Pilot Bases Question
After reading the story about the MEM pilot base closing:
http://www.memphisdailynews.com/news/2011/nov/10/delta-to-close-memphis-base-for-some-pilots-in-2012/
I was curious about other PDNW hubs and their pilot bases.
What pilot bases are located at MSP and DTW?
Since DL has taken over NW, has DL moved any pilot bases out of MSP or DTW? If so, where have they moved them to?

Pretty sure it's as follows:
DTW - DC-9, MD-80/90, A320, A330, 747, 757/767, 777. MD-80/90 and 777 have been added since the merger. Keep in mind that due to the agreement with ALPA, only PMDL pilots can fly the 777. Not sure (but don't think) there's a 737 base.
MSP - DC-9, MD-80/90, A320, A330, 757/767. Not sure (but don't think) there's a 737 base. MD-80/90 is new.
SEA was the other PMNW pilot base. Don't think anything has changed there.
Also note that with the exception of the 747 and 777 fence provisions, pilots are fully integrated. I know that there are a few PMDL pilots that are based in Minneapolis now. I'd assume that there's been some shifting around between all bases. If I were a PMDL pilot living in Seattle, I'd probably bid for a place there if I had enough seniority rather than have to commute to start my trip.

In addition to an MD88/MD90 base in MSP that was not there pre-merger, there is now an A320 base in SLC as Delta has increased the use of A319/A320 between SLC and West Coast/Arizona/Nevada/Wyoming. As the MD-90's have IFE they were moved to MSP to cover some longer routes that are lower yielding but do not require the capacity of a 757

Did MSP have a 747 pilot base at some point under NW? I am asking because I suspect that we have seen our last 747 now that MSP-NRT is now the 777. Yea for flat beds in BE but I will miss the 747s as I have fond memories.....

I'm pretty sure that was the case. In all my years flying NRT-MSP since I was a kid going to school in the twin cities area, I have always been on a 747. I think they are switching the route to a 777 only for this winter as the 747 is getting new seats in BE. I doubt that 777 is actually permanently based in MSP.

Only rumour on long haul pilot bases in MSP is losing the A330 base as there are only a couple of flights a day there. It helps that there is maintenance work done there. Still with HNL gone and AMS getting a 767 now for the second flight, it's not promising.

The 747-200 fleet had a pilot base in MSP (and ANC). Not sure if the 744 ever had a pilot base in MSP...it's been DTW only for several years.

ANC was there for cargo- a friends dad worked for them and IIRC a decade ago moved to MSP. Sadly we know what happened to the cargo fleet

I know this is an old post, but didn't want to start a new thread. I was surprised to hear that cabin crew are now based in PHL (according to the onboard announcement of a PHL-LHR flight). Do they just fly CDG and LHR plus domestic? I thought those flights were actually operated on a different rotation involving NYC crews.
