Hope it's a later-model that has the rear defrost. I'll need something to warm up my hands as I push.

I wonder if this is for DMs who pay for their FC tickets.

Some other airlines have exclusive privileges for their paying passengers to set them apart.

This makes me *so* happy to know where the money goes for the ridiculous prices for tickets I've been paying this year.

More importantly, I wonder if they would wait for the DM's spouse who was riding back in steerage.

A friend of mine took a picture of one in TPA yesterday and wondered why it was on the tarmac. Wondering if they are testing something there as well.

I used to regularly get picked up at Frankfurt, right at the plane, in a Mercedes. Though, to be fair, it was when I flew in on a C-130, and the Mercedes was a crew bus. Kinda the same thing though!

I can't believe that no one has mentioned the real reason this is happenning -- Porsche is moving its operations to right next to ATL. From ABC News/AP on May 12, 2011:

"Porsche Cars North America said Thursday it plans to consolidate several of its U.S. operations at a new $100 million complex being planned in the Atlanta area, where it already has headquarters.

The German luxury automaker said the complex, to be built near the new International Terminal at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, will include a road course allowing potential customers to take luxury cars for a spin.

Other U.S. operations moving to Atlanta include Porsche Financial Services Inc. and Porsche Business Services Inc., both currently located in Lisle, Ill. A now-shuttered Ford Motor Co. plant sits there now."

This is true, however its important to note Porsche's North American HQ is already in the ATL area and has been for years. I'm sure much like every other company in ATL DL is their carrier of choice...id imagine there was some sweetheart reciprocation when it came to acquiring those rides. Also, for those talking about the size of a Porsche, those Panamera's are about as large in stature as a 7 series BMW -- you'll be blown away at the dimensions the first time you see one.

Any one else considering parking farther away from the Airport?

Wonder how the Lincoln guys feel about this - after (surely) paying large for those captive IFE system advertisements pre-departure.

If this is going to stay permanentely it's for sure a copy of LH service offered in FRA and MUC.
For those not flying LH in First class that often:
about 5 years ago LH rolled out a new service for first class passengers and HON Circle members ( equivalent to Skymiles Kryptonium status ). There is a huge complex at their main hub Frankfurt called First class terminal which is only accessible for those qualifying pax. Once you enter the terminal you will be greeted by an personal assistant who will take of you until you board the plane. "Check in" means that you are sitting on a comfy leather couch and you assistant takes you passport and will leave you with a glass of wine until she returns with you baording passes. You will then be asked if you would like to board first ( and in that case you will be the first one on board ) or last to spent more time in the lounge. You are usually having a selection of cars in which you will be taken from the lounge to the aircraft: different Posche's, of course Mercedes, BMW X7, Audi Q7, sometimes a Bentley..
This service was so successful that it was copied by AF in CDG and to a smaller extend by BA.

I'd be impressed if they just picked me up on a bicycle.

In DTW, could be 300 or a Caddy.

Yeah, sounds like a marketing cross promotion between two hometown companies.

Before 9/11 a couple of times I rode along to pick up celebs off the ramp in a Town Car complete w an APD escort, that was pretty fun.

Picking someone up in a 300 would be insulting. You mind as well tell them to take their business to another airline.
