For the first time in my FT career I'm almost speechless. The only words that come to my mind are holy *!@# and I'm sure the rest of you can fill in the symbols.
This is insane and amazing at the same time.

I don't know the executives personally of Delta so that statement was based on no prior knowledge however.
I guess the folks here will wait for the details. But what more details are warrented about customers getting driven in a Porsche a short distance.
Only thing I can think of is this additional perk added for DM customers just like what this poster said.

Considering the miles you have and how much you spent dollarwise on flying, you realize you paid for the Porsche right? :-)
Not unheard of and I do believe you. Delta is trying to gain high profit high margin customers and impress them such as yourself so they likely have a small fleet of porsches to pick up passengers at random which appears to be a new thing.
I don't know if any other airlines do this, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did as well.
Ive been in Porsches before. They never impressed me. It is a small car designed to go high speed. Sort of like what an Airplane does in the sky I guess. But you still have your Yugo to go homewith right? :-)
From the pic it looks like the Porsche was driven on the tarmac? Where exactly did the Porsche meet you when it picked you up?
Airlines now are big money and are competing feverishly for those high dollar customers since they make the company tick.
Also this service is likely limited to ATL which is Delta's corporate HQ I am guessing. Probably some corporate executive cars they use to impress customers and the executives drive them as their personal vehicles. I am just guessing here.

He said he just made DM, as in hasn't been previously. The car in the picture is between $80-115K depending on which model Panamera it is. From his post I would doubt his(he can correct me) YTD spend on DL, and a vast amount of other DM's is within that range. A lot of DM's also have their tickets paid for by their employers.
The Porsche pictured is a 4 door sedan and not small.
I would also doubt the exec's take them home, or that they even leave the airport.

It seems like overkill to keep Porsches at the airport however and a waste of resources. Considering the short distances, wouldn't a Segway or Electric or hybrid vehicle have been more appropriate for a Corporation such as Delta?
That part just doesn't make sense unless of course there are other details missing.

I stand corrected. But just to wow a new DM customer as a way to say thanks as a one time perk. Not impressive. But he did contribute to the costs of those. I was being sarcastic if you haven't noticed.

There are DMs and then there are DMs who get it through very expensive tickets. I don't think they'd offer this to just anyone.

It's something that isn't new in the industry. Lufthansa gives the service to its HON Circle members (granted, they need to fly 600K EQMs over 2 years), but it is a way to keep the most HVCs.

I remember one financial institution was giving away VIP treatment for customers at the airport and I forgot the specifics offhand.

Some of the best ideas are copied in this case Delta clearly is copying Lufthansa at their hubs in Franfurt and Munich where F passengers are driven in Porsche Panaramas on a regular basis.
What is next? How about the yellow rubber ducks I get in the Lufthansa bathrooms?

I know UA has Global Services and AA has Concierge Key, both of which are invite-only for HVCs. I wonder if DL is going to have something along those lines, kind of like their Executive Partner from years past.

all the people bashing it in this thread are only bashing it and saying its stupid because they are jealous it hasn't happened to them. if it had happened to them they would be praising it and saying it was awesome......
