Hi fellow FTers!
I'm working on updated for the new roll out of Comfort + (C+)
Thanks!

On March 1, 2015, DL rebranded Economy Comfort as "Comfort+."
Delta - Comfort+
dl.com: LINK
Comfort+ FAQ - LINK
Offering:
  • C+ is a complimentary upgrade (space available) for DM and PM after booking. GM can access for free at T-72 and FO at T-24. (There is no longer a discount for GM/FO.)
  • Sky Priority boarding
  • Extra legroom and, on international a/c, extra recline
  • Free wine, spirits and regional craft beers, plus premium snacks
  • Complimentary premium entertainment from Delta Studio™ (No longer relevant as of July 1st; Entertainment now complimentary in Y)
  • On JFK-LAX/SFO flights, a Luvo® sandwich wrap and frozen Greek yogurt bar, pillow, blanket, and sleep kit are included

A few general notes regarding DL C+:
  1. On international a/c, the bulkhead seats often have a significant amount leg room (other than the 764).
  2. The bulkhead and exit row seats are often narrower as the tray table and/or IFE unit are in the arm rests. The arm rests do not move which, coupled with a smaller seat, can be uncomfortable for larger pax.
  3. The first row of regular economy seating after EC IS NOT recommended. The last row of EC has the EC recline and members have reported that there's no extra space between this row and the first row of regular Y.
  4. Selecting C+ Seats - You cannot select or purchase C+ seats until after booking is completed on revenue or award tickets. The UG has to clear as well.
************************************************** ***********
Internationally Configured Aircraft
Per DL, International/transoceanic C+ offers 35" pitch and 6" recline. (LINK)

747-400 / 744 / 74S:
  • dl.com seat map: 747-400
    Rows 22-26 - 42 total C+ seats.
  • Legroom:
Row 22 ABC/HJK and 24 DEFG are the bulkhead seats. 22C/H are noted as having unlimited legroom and some have noted that people can congregate due to the proximity of the lavatories, which are located directly in front of the first row of C+ on the 744. 22ABC have recently received poor reviews because of the lav and galley - people tend to congregate in this area and it can become stinky. Comments on 22K indicate that pax can access the aisle without disturbing other passengers. Also, the lavatory near 22HJK is blocked for BusinessElite pax, so there tends to be fewer disturbances and become less smelly over the course of a long flight. Also, seats 22B and 22J can be used for bassinets.
Some might prefer the legroom of row 35/51 on the 744 with less recline and tray in armrest.

    Rows 31-34; 36 C+ seats
NOTE: As DL reduced the number of Business Elite seats on the 777s, rows 29-32 are now the C+ seats.
The C+/Economy seats on a/c has winged headrests.
  • Legroom:
Row 29/31 seats are the bulkhead seats and have plenty of leg room. Rows 30-32/32-34 are standard C+ seats with USB and plug power. Row 44 (exit row) has excellent legroom, but no power outlets. The window seat sin this row are narrower because the tray table is in the armrest does not move up. The recline is standard recline.
    IFE:
These a/c are equipped with IFE at each seat.

  • Legroom:
On the 764, the bulkhead seats (row 15) have less leg room than the 763's; there's probably about 2' or so between the edge of the seat and the wall. The bulkhead seats do not have moveable arm rests and the tray table/IFE monitor are in the arm rests. In my experience, I felt like the A332/333 and 763's had better recline in EC than the 764.
  • IFE:

C+ and Priority Boarding/Baggage Allowance:
Passengers in C+ get Sky Priority boarding unless their elite status provides a higher boarding zonemu access. There is no additional baggage allowance unless elite status or fare class provide it.

Status Changes:
There have been a couple of questions regarding C+ when a member's status drops down after January 31. Typically, seats will hold unless there is an equipment change. If there's a change, the passenger(s) will most likely be seated in regular economy. There are reports of some success contacting @delta to get reseated in C+.

Take an EC seat if you want free alcohol and free HBO on the AVOD. Otherwise, 30ABFG offer more legroom than any EC seat. At 6'4", 30ABFG are my first choice.

CR7 Bulkhead

On the CR7, is the bulkhead in Economy Comfort (in front of Row 4) a "hard" fixed bulkhead or a "half-curtain" bulkhead. Big difference is legroom. Trying to decide weather to go for row 4 or stay in exit row 12. Any advice is appreciated.

I'm virtually certain that the last two flights where I sat in 4B were on 700s. It's just a soft curtain, and a superb amount of leg room (for a CRJ, that is!)

757 Rows 14 and 15?

Has anyone flown on a DL 757 with EC in rows 14-15? I have one of those coming up, and I'm wondering if rows 14-15 are as roomy as rows 16-17.

If the premium economy seats are the only seats left and I don't choose seats, will Delta give them to me without the upcharge?

Welcome to FT!

If you don't select a seat, you'll be assigned wherever the GA has an open seat in Y. Hopefully, medallions in regular Y seats will be upgraded to F, and you'll be placed into those. I actually keep an eye on the seat map while I'm at the airport, and as medallions clear their UGs, I can usually snag seats further toward the front.

IMO, DL needs to find a way to put medallions or people in paid preferred seats into EC before sticking unassigned or E-fare pax there for free. I know it's a logistics issue, since they're changing people who have otherwise selected their preferred seat, and that the GA has much better things to do (like just get the plane boarded pushed back on time), but seeing randos dumped into EC because they bought the lowest fare on a full flight or just didn't bother to look for an assignment drives me up the wall.

Sorry, rant over.

Situation: Would appreciate some advice from anyone that has knowledge or experience. Going LAX-HND on A330-200 and coming back NRT-SEA on A330-300, in regular Economy on DL metal. I am travelling with a child so DL won't give me an exit row bulkhead in row 29 - bummer. Seems like next best would have been Row 29 center seats but DL isn't willing to release them (held for disabled etc).

Questions:
1. The general guidance in the OP is to avoid the first row behind Economy comfort. This would be Row 14 on A330-200 and Row 15 on A330-300. Are both of these bad, consistent with the general guidance?
2. Any suggestions on how I can get Row 29 middle seats that would be acceptable for a child seating.
3. I am a lowly DL Gold. Are my companions (not on same reservation) eligible for 50% off Economy Comfort? If so, are specific seats (2 needed) in Economy Comfort better than others? Are the window seats in Row 10 impacted by the protruding door on both these aircraft?

Thanks a lot for your help.

1. My guidance is not to avoid the first row of Y behind EC, but to be aware that some do not like it - I've sat there on the 772 and it was fine...but a/c and opinions vary. I would not do so on the 764 that I fly very often.

2. Check in at T-24 and see if the seats are open.

3. You have to be on the same PNR to get the discount on EC. I do not find that row 10 is significantly impacted by the slide on the door.

Yeah, it would be nice, but I can see where it would be an issue for the GAs. I am probably not alone when I say I would rather be in a domestic Y window seat toward the rear of the plane than stuck in a middle seat in EC (obviously, international EC is a different beast). It would take a very long time to make everyone happy.

Thanks much, rwoman - much appreciated. To confirm, I have a choice of sticking in 14 A/B on the A330-200 or moving back to 15 A/B. Are you saying that Row 14 might somehow be better than Row 15?

If others have direct experience with Row 14@ A330-200 or Row 15 @ A330-300, please do share with me. Thanks.

Thankfully, I can sit in EC for free. My point with the first row of Y is that the extra recline in the last row of EC can have a varied effect - on the 764 it seems pretty tight whereas, on the 772, I sat there (row 35) and it was fine.

With a lack of information on the A333, you may want to go with row 15 in case it's a tighter fit in row 14.

Any recent EC experience on the 738? Seat guru says 10C/D are good seats, the two reviews in post 1 seem so-so.

Also, OP maybe we should split out 737 and 738. Appears according to seatguru to have slightly different configs (eg row 10).

JFK-LAX 757 transcon EC seats 21A/22A vs exit row seats 36C/36D?

Is there a major difference between EC seats 21A & 22A over the exit row seats 36C & 36D on a 757 transcon JFK-LAX?
