Hi fellow FTers!
I'm working on updated for the new roll out of Comfort + (C+)
Thanks!

On March 1, 2015, DL rebranded Economy Comfort as "Comfort+."
Delta - Comfort+
dl.com: LINK
Comfort+ FAQ - LINK
Offering:
  • C+ is a complimentary upgrade (space available) for DM and PM after booking. GM can access for free at T-72 and FO at T-24. (There is no longer a discount for GM/FO.)
  • Sky Priority boarding
  • Extra legroom and, on international a/c, extra recline
  • Free wine, spirits and regional craft beers, plus premium snacks
  • Complimentary premium entertainment from Delta Studio™ (No longer relevant as of July 1st; Entertainment now complimentary in Y)
  • On JFK-LAX/SFO flights, a Luvo® sandwich wrap and frozen Greek yogurt bar, pillow, blanket, and sleep kit are included

A few general notes regarding DL C+:
  1. On international a/c, the bulkhead seats often have a significant amount leg room (other than the 764).
  2. The bulkhead and exit row seats are often narrower as the tray table and/or IFE unit are in the arm rests. The arm rests do not move which, coupled with a smaller seat, can be uncomfortable for larger pax.
  3. The first row of regular economy seating after EC IS NOT recommended. The last row of EC has the EC recline and members have reported that there's no extra space between this row and the first row of regular Y.
  4. Selecting C+ Seats - You cannot select or purchase C+ seats until after booking is completed on revenue or award tickets. The UG has to clear as well.

Internationally Configured Aircraft
Per DL, International/transoceanic C+ offers 35" pitch and 6" recline. (LINK)

747-400 / 744 / 74S:
  • dl.com seat map: 747-400
    Rows 22-26 - 42 total C+ seats.
  • Legroom:
Row 22 ABC/HJK and 24 DEFG are the bulkhead seats. 22C/H are noted as having unlimited legroom and some have noted that people can congregate due to the proximity of the lavatories, which are located directly in front of the first row of C+ on the 744. 22ABC have recently received poor reviews because of the lav and galley - people tend to congregate in this area and it can become stinky. Comments on 22K indicate that pax can access the aisle without disturbing other passengers. Also, the lavatory near 22HJK is blocked for BusinessElite pax, so there tends to be fewer disturbances and become less smelly over the course of a long flight. Also, seats 22B and 22J can be used for bassinets.
Some might prefer the legroom of row 35/51 on the 744 with less recline and tray in armrest.

NOTE: As DL reduced the number of Business Elite seats on the 777s, rows 29-32 are now the C+ seats.
The C+/Economy seats on a/c has winged headrests.
  • Legroom:
Row 29/31 seats are the bulkhead seats and have plenty of leg room. Rows 30-32/32-34 are standard C+ seats with USB and plug power. Row 44 (exit row) has excellent legroom, but no power outlets. The window seat sin this row are narrower because the tray table is in the armrest does not move up. The recline is standard recline.

  • Legroom:
On the 764, the bulkhead seats (row 15) have less leg room than the 763's; there's probably about 2' or so between the edge of the seat and the wall. The bulkhead seats do not have moveable arm rests and the tray table/IFE monitor are in the arm rests. In my experience, I felt like the A332/333 and 763's had better recline in EC than the 764.
  • IFE:

Status Changes:
There have been a couple of questions regarding C+ when a member's status drops down after January 31. Typically, seats will hold unless there is an equipment change. If there's a change, the passenger(s) will most likely be seated in regular economy. There are reports of some success contacting @delta to get reseated in C+.

Thumbs up A Good EC Experience

Flew in EC a couple of days ago on a 763-ER (G) seat 17F (No PTV's)

It was actually the most comfortable transatlantic flight i've ever had (except in business of course) and I really noticed and appreciated both the extra recline and legroom. Usually I sit with my knees in the back of the seat in front but the space was great and I was able to recline and relax comfortably.

Worth every penny extra penny in my opinion!

767-300 ER - Is it really that bad?

Flew in EC on a 767-300 ER (G) a couple of days ago and was surprised given the amount of hate directed towards that particular plane across FT.

Yes, it was old, the overhead bins were a little on the small side and there were no PTV's but the plane itself was in a pretty good state. It was well maintained and perfectly comfortable for a 9 hour transatlantic flight.

Based on my experience i'm really struggling to understand some of the hate and criticism towards this particular plane, so my question is whether it is really that bad?

I flew on this plane from DUS-ATL just last week in BE and enjoyed the experience. The OH bins were on the smallish side. My fully compliant carry on bag did get a little stuck when placing it in the OH bin in the middle. It fit fine on the outside bin.

The recliners in BE seem to fit my large frame better than the lie flat bed seats. I think that I prefer an airline seat that does a pretty good job for relaxing in than an airline lie flat bed that does a sorry job of imitating a comfortable seat.

The most important factor to me in the whole equation here is the service that is granted by the in-flight crew. A genuinely pleasant in-flight crew overcomes a lot of negatives brought on by an older, somewhat dated, hard product.

Many do not dislike EC on the 763.

Also, OP, please do not create duplicate posts, as you've put this in the EC FAQ!

I think the biggest single complaint is the lack of AVOD. The seats themselves are fine, IMO.

763 ER BE is actually not bad.. Y avod is lacking, but i have other issues traveling in Y on TATL/ long distance flights than AVOD which my tablet suffices the purpose.

I actually prefer the recliners on daytime flights. They're much more comfortable for working. I don't really care for AVOD as my laptop or iPad provides all the entertainment I need. I like the lie-flats for overnight flights - maybe it's my smallish 5' 11" frame, but I get plenty of rest on the 764 lie flats (haven't had a chance to try the 772 except domestic ex ATL).

DL is in the process of converting their international 767-300 fleet to lie flat BE seats and coach PTVs. I would expect the rate of conversions to accelerate this winter as more and more TATL routes are suspended.

What I "hate" is paying 4K and getting the old 763 recliners on long routes like IST, ATH, SVO. The only way I can survive those old recliners is to have an empty seat beside me which means I also get an extra pillow and blanket to reshape the seat.

I also have problems with my size-wize rollaboard if I board late due to a delayed connection.

Edited to say that DL messed with 2 of my international trips today and so I was reminded that I have to survive the old 763 ATL-STR in late October.

I flew JFK-CPH and AMS-ATL both on a 767-300ER in June in Y, and these aircraft have seen better days. They had worn seat cushions and grimy tray tables. On the night flight to CPH none of the overhead reading lights in coach were working (confirmed by the very aplologetic FA) which was really frustrating since I have some material I planned to read for work. Then on the flight to ATL, the IFE was completely broken.

These birds are fine in coach (assuming they aren't in disrepair), and some of the EC seats are quite roomy. I think many of the gripes are about the old recliner seats in BE. That product isn't "bad" per se, but it certainly isn't competitive with most other carriers' business class cabins. The seats are narrow, don't lie flat, and have outdated IFE. I would never pay to sit up front or purchase an M+ fare in an attempt to upgrade on these planes.

Is there still only a curtain behind first class on the a319 and a320? Rows 4 and 5 are available on two upcoming flights, and I want to have space to stretch my legs. If I'll be able to stick them under row 3's seats, that would be excellent.

767-300 ER - Is it really that bad?

I'm flying the old 767-300ER in BE from CDG-SLC in October. It's scheduled for 11+ hours but I'm sure will be ok for a daytime flight. I was just happy to get 2 100K business awards to Europe!!!

EC is fine for me on those planes, no AVOD is tough for a 10+ hour flight.

I'm sure eventually they will get them all converted but I try to arrange my travel to avoid really long flights on them - for example, I need to go to Beijing in a couple of weeks and I am not taking the 767 the whole way, which is what delta.dumb offers as their preferred option for me.

My first flight on a DL 763ER was in EC a few weeks ago NRT-PDX-ATL, and it was a surprisingly pleasant flight. I think most of the reason those planes get a bad rap is that, overall, they have the worst hard product in the DL widebody fleet.
