E170 and F?
I depart GRB to DTW (DL5926) on Nov 26th and return Dec 7th from DTW back to GRB (also DL5976). Delta.com says this is an E170 regional jet. If I look at the E170 DL profile it says there is a limited number of F seats. However, the seat map online does not show any F, all Y. Just wondering what is true... Are there E170's with F and DL is in the middle of adding seats?

Depends who is operating it. If it is operated by compass airlines then all their 170's are fitted for only Y. They are suppose to get them re-furnished to eventually have 9 in F and 60 in Y. Who know maybe they will have it re-furnished by then.

All of the E175's I have been on have always been F since day one. |
Book 1ACD or 2ACD and u will have a good shot of being in F as on many of the E170s they don't sell F even though it exists on many

"It says these flights are operated by Shuttle America.
All of the E175's I have been on have always been F since day one." You are right the 175's have. But not all 170's have first class ( at this moment). |

I sure hope this isn't the case. |

Is this true?? They are going from 12F to 9F on the 175's?
I sure hope this isn't the case. The EMB-170s are new additions to Delta Connection flying. These came from Frontier/Midwest and as such are in an all-coach configuration. These planes, being smaller by about 6 feet, are going to ultimately have a 9F/60Y configuration. This is actually an improvement from the last time Delta had EMB-170s in the fleet, when they were in a 6F/64Y configuration. |

No. The EMB-175s (76 seaters) are staying at 12F/64Y.

I was told a while back that there would be 6 Compass E170s that will be all coach and focused in MSP.
There will be 9 new Shuttle America E170s with 6F and 64Y focused in LGA. There will also be 5 new Shuttle America E170s with 70 coach focused in DTW. All aircraft will be converted to 9F and 60Y in December. If you look at E170 seatmaps on delta.com in January or beyond, all flights will show a 9F seatmap. Seems consistent to me that there is a DTW E170 flight showing as all coach based on what I had heard above. Apparently the seat pitch in the all coach planes is 34" pitch to comply with not being over 70 seats per the mainline Delta pilot contract scope. So while F will obviously be missed by those flying the 70Y planes, it will be a nice ride in coach. |

The SHUTTLE AMERICA breakdown is as follows: There are E170's in a 70Y, E170's in a 6F/64Y and E175's as 12F/64Y. E170's in 70Y are mainly used for flying in/out of DTW, including your GRB-DTW flight. These are supposedly in a temporary all coach arrangement. (Go for the A/B side of the aircraft, more leg room ... 17 rows on A/B side, 18 rows on C/D side) E170's F/Y are used out of LGA mainly, but to a lesser extent DTW/MSP/MEM. E175's are mainly working the LGA-DCA/ORD flights. **That's not to say one might not be substituted for another** As for Compass aircraft, I have no idea. And as for the 9F/60Y configuration, that has been the rumour, but we have yet to see any concrete evidence of this on our end...yet. But we are usually last to know! |

Let me try to clarify this...as a Shuttle America flight attendant, I deal with it daily.

Thank you, IndyWA, for your post. I'm flying into IND in a couple of weeks and hope to have an FA like you. I've always enjoyed my Shuttle or Compass flights, up front or in back. |
It looks like my scheduled Compass E175 flight for tomorrow morning has been downgraded to an E170. I had been upgraded at the window but now have been moved back to row 5 (though Delta.com still says "First (V)"). Also, the Delta.com seat map shows F as having one row (row 40?) with seats A and D - I am guessing that is a glitch, but of course it won't let me view the Coach seat map because it still thinks I am in F.
Oh well, I was stuck in row 20 on a CRJ9 on the same route last week so 5 on an E170 will be like heaven! |
