Unlike all other 767 versions Delta has, there isn't a lavatory set near the over-wing exits (because they are near the 2nd set of doors).

*Note: This configuration is used inclusive on SEA-PVG, ATL-LOS. It also frequently works SEA-ATL to provide rotation. These aircraft do cover flights to Europe All 36J seats will be sold because it has a crew rest module installed. Also, the Y seats are the older ones like the 777 with the older IFE system (only 767-300ER type with that, all others are the newer seats/system).
**All retired 6/30/2020 due to COVID-related fleet simplifications

What DL is believed to do is put all flights with 26J as the 76Z Version 2 configuration and then change it to 76Z Version 1 closer to departure as needed. If you select 20-21CDE when it is 76Z Version 2 and it changes to 76Z Version 1, it should seat you in 13-14CDE considering that 20-21CDE doesn't exist on the configuration it changed to. All other seats are numbered the same regardless of Version 1 or 2, although there may be minor differences such as row 20 being an exit row on Version 1.

N1609 should be completed sometime this week or next. Thats one more 763 to increase your odds!

I mean, if its basically two 763's being done at a time and it takes 6 weeks, then it doesn't take a mathmatician to calculate the mods will last past 2013.

I'm sure the rate will pick up to at least 3 at a time like the 767-400ERs were, or possibly even 4 at a time. Right now they're just working on the 76Ts which already had AVOD. The rest of the 767-300ERs face the same problem as the 747-400s in that the new integrated IFE system isn't ready yet, so hopefully by pushing those out to next year the system will be ready for installation when they need it.

It will be interesting to see what routes Delta flys the reconfigured 767s on in November. Flights such as ATL - FCO were operated with 767-400s in October (already with flat bed seats in C) but switch to 767-300s in November.

With three planes (N1608, N1611B and N1612T) done and in service and one (N1609)to be done soon (hopefully) that makes four planes - perhaps enough to have at least some of them operate on a regular basis on a specfic route.

Honestly, I don't see how thats possible. Maybe once they get at least half of them done. I don't think I've read anywhere that they will be route specific.

I got ATL to CDG coming up on 11/22, then ZRH to ATL on 11/25. THey've been flying those routes in the past.

I just did 23 hours yesterday getting home from HER and the ATH-JFK segment was awful in the old 763. Beyond the funky seat and tiny screen, there was a guy in my seat who would not move and was eventually put back in coach. Then there was no room in the overhead bin as HER-ATH cuts it close and I was one of the last to board.

So I've got a 333 ATL-AMS (11/3) but the old 763 AMS-DTW (11/12). I would hate to repeat yesterday so is there any hope of the new 763 or at least a 333 running AMS-DTW on 11/12?

as I am sure you know, there are two 330's and a 767 on ams to dtw on 11/12. The new 763's have done dtw to ams in the past so it could happen.

Mods will pick up once they move on to the 76L fleet. They have to give the suppliers time to pick up. (remember Delta can't just drive down to the local seat store and pick up 1,000s of seats.) to get done by the end or 2013 (as promised) they would have to get ~3 per month done. That isn't to far out of reach.

Xeno - You always have these great stories!! Please explain the following:

here was a guy in my seat who would not move and was eventually put back in coach.

I am curious about two parts of your post:

1) The "in your seat" bit - Did he actually have a BP for the seat for which you had been issued a BP?

2) How was the issue resolved and the interloper moved back to Y?

Feel free to PM me if you would rather do that than post a full response here.

I took the OA flight from HER that Delta would use (but it was a separate ticket since I also went to SKG on the inbound) but we parked far from the terminal and took a bus to the terminal, then a long walk, and DL refused my DL BPs printed by OA so I was one of the last to board the flight.

I reserved 2C back in March which is my seat of choice for 333/763s. A guy was in 2C and would not move when I told him he was in my seat. I asked for his BP and it said 2E. He insisted that I take 2E but I was not willing to do this (e.g. there is a medical issue involved).

As I was getting settled and testing my seat and headphones, I saw 2 or more FAs come to this guy with the manifest. They were talking in Greek so I didn't understand the conversation.

Then a VIP comes up from the back of the BE cabin who obviously knows everybody by first names and even got a personal escort who came on the plane once we arrived in JFK and he got off before anyone including DM M&G folk (although all of us had to wait for a medical team to take off a person who was ill during the flight).

I told the new 2E (VIP) that I was curious about what happened and he said that he runs to ATH 5/6 times a year and he was not willing to ride in a broken seat (this also happened on JFK-ATH but 2E {333} remained empty which was good for me to sleep). He continued by saying he thought that the previous guy was sent to coach. I didn't ask any more questions.

A reconfigured 767-300ER is scheduled to operate domestically. DL2183 JFK-SEA on November 3 is currently scheduled to be operated by N1612T
