Unlike all other 767 versions Delta has, there isn't a lavatory set near the over-wing exits (because they are near the 2nd set of doors).

*Note: This configuration is used inclusive on SEA-PVG, ATL-LOS. It also frequently works SEA-ATL to provide rotation. These aircraft do cover flights to Europe All 36J seats will be sold because it has a crew rest module installed. Also, the Y seats are the older ones like the 777 with the older IFE system (only 767-300ER type with that, all others are the newer seats/system).
**All retired 6/30/2020 due to COVID-related fleet simplifications

What DL is believed to do is put all flights with 26J as the 76Z Version 2 configuration and then change it to 76Z Version 1 closer to departure as needed. If you select 20-21CDE when it is 76Z Version 2 and it changes to 76Z Version 1, it should seat you in 13-14CDE considering that 20-21CDE doesn't exist on the configuration it changed to. All other seats are numbered the same regardless of Version 1 or 2, although there may be minor differences such as row 20 being an exit row on Version 1.

N1609 went in for re-furb about a week ago
N1607B, N1610D, and N1613B will be the next ships to go in for re-furb

re-furb is taking about six weeks

Does this sound right?
are those last 3 going in at the same time? This is great news. there should be 7 birds completed by the beginning of November. The pace is getting fast and furious!

I am on a 763 to GRU tomorrow. I was greatly disappointed because I didn't think they were supposed to switch from the 764 to the 763 until the end of Oct.

Not quite. They are currently working on two aircraft at a time. One will go in next week once N1612T is out. The other two will go in as further mods are completed, so around mid-November. These first 7 (the 12+ hour sub-fleet) will be done by the end of the year, then next year they will start working on the rest of the fleet. At some point the rate will need to increase to 3-4 at a time in order to meet the Summer 2013 completion date.

Fleet optimization can be a key difference between an airline breaking even and losing money. Every airline sends their airplanes out on the most optimal rotation between hubs to keep the utilization figure up. Sitting airplanes lose money, and is what you are hinting towards. DL is better at it than most others.

Until there are enough reconfigured 763s that they can establish a sensible rotation pattern for them, they're not marketing any route as having the updated equipment. Thus, it's having zero impact on competitiveness.

I'm flying DL767-300ER (ATL-BCN and BCN JFK in April/May 2012. Regarding the 3 new ships and the November timeframe, I was checking Delta's schedules and coincidentally right at the end of October, beginning of November, there is a change to the flight schedule, and a change from the Airbus to the 767-300ER. Hmmm.

I sure would like to get a lie-flat seat for my trip! ;-)

It looks like 1612T is now in service and flew the SFO - NRT route yesterday. So that is three. It looks like 1613B will be the next to go in for re-furb.

Anybody know if SLC-HNL 763's will be part of this refurb? Lie flats maybe?

The 767-300 non-ERs in domestic F config (code 763) aren't part of the lie-flat/coach AVOD refurb (code 767 for the 767-300ER); they already have full AVOD.

Furthermore, there are no plans to install the new overhead bins/sidewalls/ceiling panels on the domestic 763 fleet.

That is what Mr. Chris Babb told me, as discussed in a previous thread.

No, I'm speaking in general. You seem to always have the scoop about aircraft renovations and stuff like that - I'm curious, what are your sources?
