OCT5
DL 2131 :LGA-DTW $ 610.00
Oct5
DL 2131 :LGA-(DTW)-MKE $ 76.00
Looks so similar ==>( same date, same flight number, same time, same airline) yet somehow so different.

The first one is a "non-stop" flight to DTW.
The second one is a "direct" flight to MKE that makes a "stop" at DTW.
The second one demonstrates the possible use of "throw-away ticketing", where someone going to DTW buys a ticket to MKE, but simply walks out at DTW, and does not go to MKE.

Risky. The word is risky. LGA is a snare for all sorts of irregular operations. The OP could get re-routed LGA-Atlanta-MKE and be delivered 800km away from his desired destination.

Do it. Even if problems do arise at LGA, you can request to be routed through DTW instead of ATL and I don't think most GAs would bat an eyelash.
