Elite Lines down?

Both 800-325-1551 (which used to have a prompt to enter your skymiles # and I've called it for years) and the 6888 # that says "DM Desk" on my App are down.

The 6888 number has a recording saying "This number cannot be reached from your calling area"... I'm calling from the US.

Anyone else having issues?

I had troubles yesterday and there were several reports here of long wait times and even some hang-ups. Me thinks the phone system is being enhanced.

I got through on the 1551 number about an hour ago with virtually no hold time. I tried twice earlier today and those calls never made it to an agent.

They know who is calling!

Called three times today. The first time after being connected to an agent I was disconnected. The other two calls went through fine (all were this afternoon).

Yes, the DL Elite phone system is getting 'enhanced' or upgrade. They are trying to get it done before July 1.

DL is creating a new 'phone lice' and 'DYKWIA Elites' system. They are adding new phone tunes while you are waiting on the phone. I believe one of them is a crying baby and Barney. ;)

:p

Since I'm using Skype sometimes I found that basic Medallion line connection is usually not so good. And actually two day ago I cannot connect neither by phone nor via Skype to the 1551.
If I have a problem with 1551 (doesn't matter via skype or phone), I just called to the general number 800-221-1212 and after entering my SM # in a second was transferred to PM line.

For the past month or two my old method of dialing 9 right when the machine picks up and then entering my skymiles&pin stopped working.

I've had to follow the prompts.

DL if you're taking suggestions on enhancements: 1) Follow AAs lead where you log me in automatically based on caller ID; 2) STOP telling me about the TSA rules about DOB...I fly enough - I KNOW!

A small thing but it works so well. Alolng those lines Hertz has started using an automatic call back list. You call and once you are registered the system calls you back when you are next in line. Very nice feature and one DL should look at for IROPS and the regular medallion line.

There was a discussion about this a while back and many think this is not a good idea. Many phone numbers don't have just a medallion calling the airline from it, whether that be a home or a business or even a cell phone. So I can see why they don't do this. And if people are talking about "fake" medallions getting this or that benefit, I can't imagine non-medallions calling DL on a phone line that happens to be linked to a medallion. It could open up all sorts of cans of worms.

This month, several times, I have gotten a recording when I called saying how long the wait time is and giving me an option of leaving my number so they can call back when it is my turn vs staying on the phone. When given the option, I have chosen to have them call me back and the estimated time they gave was very accurate. I thought it was a nice feature. I did get disconnected the first time they called me back but I believe that was my fault as I was in a car at the time and probably went through a dead zone.

Unique pin would work. My bank identifies me by my cell number and prompts me to enter my pin right out of the gate.

Could work but it was not something you mentioned when you agreed +100000000:

And it appears Hertz recognizes the phone number only, no PIN?
