Also, sometimes the FCM offers can be sort of misleading to the infrequent traveler, or those not used to DL and their website.

For example, later this month I am flying ANC-SEA-ATL-ECP. The offer to upgrade to First is for $129. If that was either one-way or roundtrip I would jump on it! But if you look carefully you will see it is only for the short hop ATL-ECP. The longer legs are insanely more if you hover over the seat map... buying a new ticket in F is a much better deal.

That being said I have come across some good one's before. ATL-MCO for $50 each way to upgrade. ECP-ATL-PWM and the return PWM-ATL-ECP for only $135 roundtrip. So in the end it's definitely YMMV.

You will usually get more information in the full web site than the app. For my next trip the offer is explicitly for F one way, yours is not and might be for some other class like preferred, C+, PS or D1 depending on route and aircraft, but that price is likely F, PS or D1. As Gaga said, if you are on the full site on a computer, hovering the cursor over an open seat will usually provide the cost to upgrade to that seat for that leg. And beware whether the price is for one leg, one way or round trip.

LGA - IAH (4.5 hr flight)

Only 8900 skypesos, only two seats remaining in the cabin for this 4.5 hour flight, plus I am a newly downgraded FO (from AMEX DM)

Just bit on my first FCM offer. Sorry to the other 16 people above me on the list. At least DL finally eliminated lowlife AMEX DMs like me so I can still get your upgrade for 8900 skypesos.

This was the same offer I had when I logged in last week.

I called Delta and upgraded the round trip for less than $300.

A bargain when you consider the 10 hour wait you're gonna have at LGA while taxing to the gate.

My ticket was well under $1000. To each their own. For me it was more having the lie flat seats to get some good shut eye before a vacation.

Just got MCO-SEA for 20,000 miles. The cash upgrade price was $235 for what was listed as a 6.5 hour flight. By comparison, my outbound SEA-DTW flight is $638...

that's not altogether bad ... WAS-SEA has oozed up to $264 over the past year or so, and I'm seeing $284 for some upcoming expected travel days over the next few months

I'd pay $235 for 6 1/2 hours in first-class, especially if you can do a same-day change and do MCO–JFK–SEA for the maximum number of MQMs.

Then again, I'm the guy who booked Detroit DTW–Cincinnati CVG–Washington DCA–Madison–New York LGA–Columbus CMH.

It's the code for IAD/DCA/BWI collectively.
