Would people prefer undervalued FCMs that lead to upgrades being swiped?

I had a weird one on MSN>ATL>MSY where it had been $86 for ATL>MSY and I wanted to do it so I could SDC that one to shorten my layover from 2.5 to 0.75 hours and I clicked through to purchase, went through and realized I got a new Amex # when they suspected fraud so I went downstairs and got my card. By then my session had expired and when I went back in it was $255 - not worth it. I checked a few more times all weekend and then it finally went down to $86 again and I snagged it. My hypothesis is that something in my click through told this fragile algorithm that demand was higher and so it set a higher price and 48 hours when it thought demand was gone it came back down. But that's pure conjecture. Just odd to immediately spike after a click through on it and then not go back down for 48 hours.

yeah, even by hockeyinsider standards, this seems like a really weird thing to bellyache about. It's a URL, talking about "marketing names" isn't really relevant.

I tried looking here and in the SDC/SDS thread, but could not find any information about Same-Day Standby Upgrades easily. Does anyone have experience with them? Do they clear before all Medallion upgrades since they are paid? Are they reasonable compared to the current $564 FCM (CUN-MSP) being offered? Info from Delta.com:
