I mean in this case it's not a SkyPesos are worthless deal. It's the straight FCM offer (of ~$4.5k) converted to the miles equivalent at 1CPP minus taxes as DL does for all FCM.
The redemption value in this case is exactly the same as it would be if OP's FCM was $50 and OP opted to pay with miles.

No objection from me, as I prepare to enjoy TPAC D1 for $450 more.

I think I've made a terrible mistake. Last month I booked my spouse and I award tickets for TVC-MSY and back with a stops in DTW. The FCM offer on the TVC- DTW segment seemed high, so I passed, but the DTW-MSY segment was $119 per person each way, which I though was pretty reasonable. I had some other bills to take care of last month, so I only bought the F upgrade for the trip down, thinking I could come back this month and snag the upgrade for the trip home. I logged in today and discovered that the FCM offer for the return trip from MSY-DTW had nearly doubled, from $119 to $226 (the DTW-TVC offer had an absurd jump, from $74 to $189!!). I also noticed that the fare codes for the return trip have changed on all the cabin classes. They were T, W and Z when I booked, they're now K, S and I, and priced much higher. So, I guess my question is have I made a horrible judgment call by not snagging both legs at the same time? Also, this trip is a ways out (April 2020), is there any chance of the cost going back down, or should I snag now before it goes even higher?
Thanks,
G
Thanks,

I just paid $236 on an HNL-LAX redeye that we're taking next week and $239 for a redeye LIH-SEA last week. $300+ is a bit higher than I'd like to pay, but I personally have zero shot at sleep in a C+ seat, so I'd probably pay to UG. Every redeye flight I've taken from Hawaii to the mainland has few available FC seats to UG into, hence why I frequently bite when offered a decent FCM price.

Realize this is a shorter flight, but I'm getting offers between $899 and $1500 to UG from PS to D1 suites in an upcoming SEA-ICN flight and the return ICN-SEA trip. Will likely buy it on the return as its following a brutal 1AM departure from HKT-ICN, which will be a 6 hour flight on KE in economy...

Technically not FCM, but I took an 8,900 mile offer (it was the fare diffrence to FC at 1cpm) on a MCO-DTW-BNA flight I have coming up next week. I felt that this one was a no brainer to pay the UG.
