My post was based on the particular flight that I was on, and the actual upgrade offer that DL made me. I might contact the Big D and see whether I can rebook onto the flight you referenced, as this deal was not available two months ago when I booked this trip.

Right now I am getting an offer of $624 to upgrade from comfort to first on YVR-SEA30 minutes puddle jumper. Six seats available. Is this the most ridiculous offer?

Yes. That's a bad offer for SEA-SFO, much less a 30 minute flight to YVR that probably doesn't even have bev. service.

More craziness.

Just received a first-class buy-up offer for two segments, Norfolk to New York–LGA and LGA to Detroit. No bundling available

https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...288d946703.png

ORF–LGA was $359.05 and LGA–DTW was $584.80 for a total of $943.85. Mind you, ORF–LGA is on a CRJ-900 and LGA–DTW is on an A320. Neither has meal service. Both flights are 90 minutes or less in duration.

As a point of reference, I paid $570.20 for my round-trip DTW–ORF–LGA–DTW ticket. DTW–ORF was in X and ORF–LGA–DTW was in U.

Booking the exact same flights in paid first-class for the entire round-trip is presently $674 or $840.05 cheaper than the first-class buy-up.

2556 SFO-MSP today went to J0 on Monday, preventing my friend from buying J (he's not happy about being in a middle while I'm up front).

I don't know any of the details around who's up here or why, but it seems they're losing out on monetization if people who wanted to pay for J are sitting in Y due to lack of space.

I'd imagine DL is monitoring how much a premium and what percentage of customers are upgrading very carefully. There are people like me who recognize that ComfortPlus is truly what Main Cabin used to be 20 years ago, and therefore will never sit anywhere lower in service than comfort plus on a flight.

If they find they need to sell more F seats or C+ seats, I have no doubt they will increase their seats available. I remember a few months ago United started some sort of ad campaign about having the most premium seats on any airline within x number of years. If Delta viewed this to be in their financial interests to pursue a similar strategy, don't think for a second they wouldn't do it.

I'd love to see the 757s refitted with a full F cabin when turning left, like the NW days....

yeah, that was a great domestic F experience, but there’s a movie title from ~25 years ago that sums it up: Reality Bites

adding six F seats, taking out 15 C+ seats; two or three or four flights a day with stage lengths anywhere from ~300 to ~2300 miles ... somehow I think all the economists at DL ran these numbers a few years ago when they decided to reconfigure their 90+ 757s

LAX-MCO FCM offer for Monday $369.80. Yesterday it was $539 for the offer. I'm on a U fare.

Depending on your upgrade chances, that seems like a decent price.

There were 4 seats available when I first looked at the flight. By the time I got to checking in there were only two left. I went ahead and used my sky pesos for the upgrade. There's only one seat left now and the upgrade list has 46 names on it.
