? about free award redeposits for PM/DM
 

Scenario: I want to book 2 award seats on the same flight(s), 1 using my miles and 1 using my SO's (non-status) miles.

Would I have to book BOTH seats using MY miles to use the free redeposit perk?

If so, would the best strategy be to book both seats using my miles and then when more optimal availability opens up, rebook using our respective miles?

1) Only tickets booked with your miles will have the free redeposit.

2) Remember that if you cancel an award, that doesn't mean that it is available for somebody else. So if you book both with your miles and nothing changes, then you may be stuck with both tickets with your miles.

Also remember that just because a low award is available to you (as PM/DM) it might not be available to your SO (no status)

So, if while logged on as your SO you see a lower award, then yes, you could book it and then go back and cancel the one you booked with your miles.

also if there is low level availability for 2x seats as a plat or dm but none as a regular member, you could book both, taking advantage of the pm/dm expanded availability. then later call and cancel yourself off the ticket and you'll get miles back for just that ticket with free redeposit.
