Joke- Comp for Late flight

I got an email from DL, apologizing for a 4 hour maint delay on a 3/31 BMI to ATL flight. They awarded me 3750 miles for compensation... are you kidding me? I am going to send a message to DL saying either compensate me the right way or take the miles back... 37.50 in street value is a joke.

At least you got compensated. I've had quite a few 4+ hour delays over the past year and rarely have gotten anything.

I had an overnight and they didn't want to give me anything but a lousy $6 food voucher. It was a double delay caused by DL too, not weather.

haha.... I am DM and was on that flight and did not get a thing... I thought it was a crew issue?

See what happens when you don't wear your hat?

I was on DTW-HKG with my family three weeks ago and for a 2 hour delay, they gave me 7500 skypesos, my wife 5000, and the kids 2500 each. Total of 20K and I was the only paying passenger, they were on award tickets. Then inflight my audio was not working for the VOD and they gave me 10,000 and my wife 10,000 miles. And, with me taking a middle seat in the bulkhead they gave me 500 more skypesos...... "middle seat bonus". A total of 75,826 miles to me/my family, enough for a low tier int'l trip.

Seriously! The FA told me that there was a crew change and that they had to deadhead from DTW to ATL and then fly a late flight from ATL to BMI, hence, the late return. I assume this was the flt that was spota leave around 130pm before the delay... if not, I was on another late flight from there...

Given that the flight was almost 2 weeks ago, I'd think that you'd have already complained.

A handful of miles for a moderate delay is appropriate. What would you consider appropriate?

mbarreto Apr 12, 2011 7:31 am

Wait, they give out miles for delays???? :D

Haha... so how many miles per gallon?

buffcoat Apr 12, 2011 3:11 pm

Late last year I had a flight with no AVOD and no freakin' overhead light. I think I may have done about 15,000 miles worth of damage to my eyes trying to read.

SamuelS Apr 12, 2011 4:19 pm

Corporate Customer Care gave me a choice of 20,000 miles or $250 ECV for my recent 14 hour overnight delay (caused by mechanical, and which could have been avoided save for bad technology glitches).

I generally do not complain for up to 4 hours, but overnight/12+ hours I decided to get in touch.
