747 ops question
Does anyone know if any ( pre merger ) DL pilots are flying the 47s ( actually I guess it would be 744s ) already or is it still a strictly NW ( better said ex NW ) operation. Curious if they found any older DL pilots to re-qualify on the 47s.

Pilots are now free to bid across fleets. The "fence" set up after the merger was announced has since been lifted as the airline is now operating under a single operating certificate. While I don't know of any, I'm sure there are a few PMDL pilots flying the Whale now, just as there are ex-Airbus drivers on the 767 and vice versa.
Might be more appropriate to ask this question at airlinepilotforums.com, though. |
747 flying by ex-NW pilots, and 777 flying by DL pilots, is ring-fenced for five years. The single operating certificate didn't change that.

Not to mention the NW 744 pilots are likely the most senior work group at the combined company. DL's finical troubles in the 2000s meant there were a number of early retirement initiatives. The fence on the 744 and 777 was designed to appease the most senior work groups at both airlines.

I wouldn't say that. I'm sure there are some DL drivers who been around a while..
