Selecting different fare classes for each segment. Possible?
Is it possible (on delta.com) to select different fare classes for different segments? For example, for a trip to London, I want to select Economy (LUT......) for the domestic segment to BOS and then BE (I) class for BOS-LHR. Likewise on the way back.
If not possible on Delta.com can I call the PM line and ask for this? There is an old thread on this at http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/delta...delta-com.html Thanks. |
Not possible unfortunately. You can use a tool like matrix1.itasoftware.com to price out the domestic legs at the lowest fare and then the overwater at M to see what it should price. But you would need to call to book. In some cases, the M fare domestically is roughly the same as the total M fare so it may not be worth calling.

OP here.
Called PM line and they were able to book T for the domestic leg to BOS and then I for BOS-LHR. Did this last night... this morning the I fares for BOS-LHR doubled! |

How much was saved by doing this if you don't mind me asking? The times I have looked it has saved $200-$250 which wasn't worth the loss in MQMs and upgrade ability on the domestic segments.

Inbound and outbound can be in different fare classes. In general, the lowest fare class available on all segments of a trip (one-way) determines fare basis for the one way portion. For example if two of three segments of inbound are available in T class and one is available only in L, the inbound portion of the trip will price at L.
