Delta Plat AMEX w/40k Skymiles plus 15k MQMs [March 2011 offer]

also comes with a $100 statement credit after your first delta purchase. I got an email tonight about it. It is one of the better offers I have seen. $150/year annual fee. So, 40,000 miles with 15,000 counting towards status for basically $50 if you make one delta purchase due to the $100 credit. Sounds like a good deal to me. $1000 min spend in 3 months.

Also, the MQMs jump to 20k if you choose the Reserve card but that has a $450/year fee.

Plat...

Nice find, I've got the Delta Amex but not the Plat. I'll have to give it a try. Thanks
Tried and they said I used it about 4 years ago. No wonder I don't use Amex very much.

Remember that AMEX has a history/policy of only awarding you the incremental miles above those already received from a like branded card. Example: If you received 20K from a previous DL card offer and the new offer is for 30K you will only receive 10K. As always, YMMV.

Both of those links take me to this page:

https://www.deltaamexcard.com/default.aspx

...which requests my Skymiles account number and surname. The offer displayed doesn't resemble the one described by the OP. (I have not yet checked to see if I received an email invitation which may lead to other offers.)

I got an offer via e-mail for the platinum card. Still trying to decide whether to bite the bullet or wait it out to see if any other offers for the Delta amex's pop up.

Looks like the links are being routed to a different page since I posted them. I am going to check the links in the email they sent me again and see where they lead.

*Edit* even the links in the email now route you to the login page and they didn't last night. I did add my skymiles number and it did give me that same offer, though, so it may be targeted.

Do you happen to have a promotion or bonus code from this offer?

greenythebeast Mar 18, 2011 6:01 pm

Damn, wish I could get in on this. :(

There is no promotion code or bonus code.

I applied for it today and was instantly approved with a $10.4k limit. Called in to make sure that they had the correct offer on file and everything was correct. Easy 40k plus 15kMQM. I need to book two trips so that $100 statement credit on a Delta purchase isn't going to last long.

Probably should have just applied for the Reserve as the extra $300 in annual fee is about the same price as a 5k mileage run would have been. Oh well.

greenythebeast Mar 18, 2011 7:42 pm

Does anyone who was able to apply have a direct link to the application? Would that work even if somone wasn't targeted?

Delta Credit Card Offer

Hi,

I am wondering if anyone knows any good Delta Credit Card offers? There was the deal for 50,000 miles which I missed, and now the highest I can find is 30,000. I am holding out for a 50,000 mile offer.

Do they usually rotate promotions every month or two, or do they rarely pop up?

I am new to this so just trying to get information on Delta's promotions.

Thanks!

The highest I have seen is the 40k offer but some have had trouble getting that one to work. It worked fine for me so YMMV. You could apply for the Amex Plat with the 50k membership rewards bonus and transfer that to Skymiles with the 50% transfer bonus right now and it would net you 75k Skymiles plus 25k MQM.

In case you haven't thought about it, if you want 75,000 Delta miles and lounge access, I'd recommend getting a regular Amex Platinum Card
1) 50,000 points after you spend $1,000 in three months (you can advance yourself up to 60,000 if you've been an Amex customer in the recent past)
2) Sign up for this promo
3) Transfer 50,000 points to your Delta account by May 31, 2011 and you'll receive 75,000 Delta miles and 25,000 MQMs

Even though the Amex platinum has a $450 annual fee, it comes with a ton of benefits like lounge access (including Delta) and $200 a year in travel fee rebates with your airline of choice.

Just an option to think about if you are trying to maximize the number of Delta miles for a single card signup.
