Thumbs down Selling FO Status on Ebay...Might want to get the benefits right...

All,

Hello. I saw this link on eBay today. Someone in ATL selling FO status.

While I am fairly certain this violates the T&C's of the Medallion program, the seller mis-stated that FO status, "confers priority boarding and priority screening lines at most airports serving Delta as well double miles for paid flights." and then states it's a 25% bonus This looks like a copy of the selling summary from an eBay link someone posted in another thread the other day.

I guess my thought is, if you're going to do something that may not be legal, you should not plagiarize others.

cheers,
robin

DL Status on Ebay

Don't worry, I am not trying to sell or buy status! I did notice someone doing it a couple of weeks ago on ebay and couldn't believe that it is allowed. I looked at their feedback to see if the people were happy and I saw that the guy sold 5 Gold Status nominations in 2009! How does someone get that many and how do they get away selling it? He sold two last week!

But how do they get so many to sell? Also, it doesn't say anything about charity in the auction. Funny thing, he says Gold is the "second highest level of elite status in the Delta...."

Gifted Silver and Gold for sale on ebay--legal???

Would Delta take any actions against an individual regarding gifting status to one on eBay?

Gold $2025:

I really doubt this is OK. If Delta finds out I imagine that they would revoke the status of both members, but I'm not sure. I'm fairly certain there is a rule against selling anything related to SM, miles or benefits.

Wow! Both auctions say this:

Unlimited complimentary upgrades

Someone's in for the shock of a lifetime if they don't know the whole story!!!

Just noticed that it's 2 different sellers.

I'm pretty sure it violates both eBay's and DL's T&C.

Great risk they will loose medallion status for this as well as those buying. You may give it away to anyone but not sell. There may be exceptions for 100% charity stuff but must clear with DL from what I have been told!

I can see how buying it is tempting, but does anyone else think that the amount they are each fetching is crazy?

Can understand how FTers may think the $$ are crazy but think for a moment how it looks to a kettle. Free bags saves them hundreds of dollars, then throw in unlimited complimentary upgrades along with some other bennies for a couple thou, the buyer sees himself/herself flying in F for the next eleven months.

The seller claims that Silver earns you Priority Security Line access. If I recall correctly, that's simply not true.

So Ebay might have a problem with this, too.

I could see buying the Silver status at the current bid, if it is confirmed to be legal, but I don't get the Gold. $2,000 + would pay for a fair number of confirmed upgrades under FCM, and you would get nearly all of the benefits that come with being a GM when you travel.

Totally worth the cost. With the free unlimited upgrades to TPAC/TATL first, you could easily consume that much Caviar and Dom.

oh wait...

Change my vote to bad idea, probably get both suspended, may violate TOS for eBay, and totally not worth the cost (much less the risk).

Now for the DUH moment of the day. With the Amex card, you get Silver for a little over a Benjamin with the first year free. @:-)
