Skymiles Amex miles posting question

Not sure if this is the right forum, but I got some questionable customer service answers from Amex today regarding my skymiles posting.

I have had the Skymiles Platnium card for about 5 weeks and the original offer was 25,000 miles after the first purchase (5k count as MQM) and 15,000 if I spent $1k in the first 3 months (10k count as MQM). Thankfully, my fellow FT'ers taught me well to take a screen shot of the original offer which I have.

About 2 weeks after my first purchase, I got what I thought was supposed to be the first bonus of 25,000 total. What posted was 10,000 regular miles and 5,000 MQM. I called to find out why I wasn't given the full 25,000 and I was told they have 8-12 weeks for the miles to post and sometimes they post in blocks and I should get the rest soon....doesn't really make sense to me why they would do that. 3 weeks later and nothing has posted. I past $1k spending so I'm expecting that but I just did, so I understand why that hasn't posted yet.

Anyone else have the same card and had the miles post correctly? Is there any truth to Amex posting miles in blocks or is that a bunch of BS just to get me off the phone?

Thanks everyone

It's not complete BS, standard welcome bonus (which I believe is 15k RDM/5k MQM for Platinum) will often post separately with add'l miles specific to the offer coming later.

That said, you'll be lucky to get the rest of the miles without several more calls and a formal investigation. Amex is a great CC company as a customer, but far and away worst in class when it comes to paying out miles/points associated with new account promos.

I agree that you'll see things post in pieces. When I got my Gold SkyMiles AmEx, I got at least two bonuses, one corresponding to the default bonus and the second (several weeks later) corresponding to the "topper" bonus they used to get me to sign up for the card. (I'm a former WorldPerks Visa holder who dragged my feet in getting the SkyMiles AmEx until they threw enough miles and SkyClub passes at me.)

Thanks guys...sort of what I figured. I've read around here enough to know I would need a screen shot of the original offer. I don't mind calling in to get my miles since those miles will upgrade me to business class next next on my trip to Ireland so it's worth it.
