Well but you at least have an American passport. That makes things easier and you do not need to worry about not being admitted into the U.S. I just came back from YYZ and had several issues with one of the trained monkeys at the pre-screening. The agent got really angry at me, while I was just answering his questions as asked. But honestly, what should one answer when asked whether the European Union is an American compnay or not??!

Atleast you didn't have a Delta GA handing out hotel vouchers say "You're both of the same race you can share a room" both were complete strangers.
Sheesh. |

w/o out that info it's impossible to tell if this was a Delta employee or a contractor. Big difference in my mind Bob H |
I'll concur on the contractor issue. Should DL be contracting with some of these entities? Probably not, but it's hard for DL to control all of them. Keep in mind that at many smaller outstations, contractors will be working for more than one airline. I know during DL's failed pre-merger foray into FAR, they used the same contractors that UA does. In fact, you usually walked up to the DL counter, were ignored, then finally an NW employee would try to get a contractor over from the UA counter to help. This generally failed, because the contractors knew UA's system fairly well but had few clues about DL's system.

OP: Please tell us what field you were at. |
A Kettle was working the station? UGH:D

I consider myself a bit of an expert in deciphering English, and I am particularly fluent in Chinglish. But I have a very good friend for the past 4 years who lives two buildings away from my flat in HKG, he was born in the UK and brought up in OZ. To this day, I swear I can only understand 30% of what he says.
Hang out in an ex-pat bar for a few days. Some of the best culture clash stories are absolutely hilarious. A lot of them revolve around the American rube who just stepped off the boat. I would tell my HKG escalator story, but the upstanding decorum and impeccable nature of this forum prevents me. |
More excusable than the AA agent at LGA who was wondering why I was showing a state license rather than a US passport to fly to a domestic airport she thought was in Eastern Europe even as AA's system wasn't asking for passport information. Unlike the AA agent at LGA, the DL reps sound like airline reps who are at small domestic airports who help out with checking in passengers even as they also act as the gate agents and/or the baggage handlers.

LOL I love escalator stories. Second only to elevators stories. But my lips are sealed! P.S.: Oh Irony, my long lost friend... P.P.S.: The use of irony or sarcasm is another mine field for foreigners is the US. I master the art of deadpanning, and while my fellow "retards" easily pick up on this, I have gotten in trouble more than once when pulling the same thing on the natives. |

Please tell me you're joking?! I can't imagine that Delta (or any other airline) would insist that random pax "bunk together"

OP, you've simply got to tell us which airport. Or at least what state!
