$50k spend on Delta Platinum question

I'm close to hitting the $50k spend on my Delta Platinum AMEX for another 10,000 MQM

My billing cycle end 12/17

Do I need to hit $50k by then or by 12/31?

I assume if I don't hit by 12/17 MQMs would post for 2011?

I believe the rules state that the spend must occur before the end of the calendar year, regardless of your statement date.

From what I have been told by AMEX, it is annual spending from 1/1/xx to 12/31/xx that counts for miles boost thresholds; it doesn't matter when your billing cycle ends. In your case, spending from 12/17/10 to 12/31/10 would count toward 2010 spending even though you don't get billed until 2011.

If you make the threshold by 12/31/10, the miles post for 2010. (Of course, if that doesn't take you to a mineral status threshold, the points will rollover to 2011). All thresholds reset on 1/1/11.

Are you sure that AMEX gift cards count toward the Miles Boost threshold? I was under the impression that they did not.

I do not think they do either, but call AMEX. The reps are good about answering those kinds of questions. As I understand it, although the miles may not post for a couple weeks, the MQMs depend on what is spend PRIOR to 12/31. Once your statement is paid, the MQMs should be retroactively credited, hence your status.

Its spend by end of calendar year. Even if it posts in Jan, they'll give you the 10K towards 2010 qualification.

Sorry in no way trying to personal attack so very sorry if you take it that way - not intention!

NEVER EVER EVER CALL! You can kill great deals by CALLING!

I did the AMEX MR with 10k spend needed for the 25k MQM with the 50k bonus deal. Did 5k in AMEX GIFT. All credit 100% right away. Gift cards work great and can then be used with MINT coins. (also BigCrumbs and 1.6% bonus on top).

Know the system people and DO NOT CALL FOR crying out loud!!!!!
