Difference between 738 and 319

My regular flight is switching from a 319 to a 738. Is there any real difference? The seat map looks the same.

It's 419. (I'm here all week. Have you tried the fish?)

Are these the two?

319: http://www.seatguru.com/airlines/Del...irbus_A319.php

738: http://www.seatguru.com/airlines/Del..._737-800_A.php

The 738, versus the 73H, have overhead TVs rather than in-seat entertainment (see the 'video' details on the 738 link). Either way, it's better than the zero entertainment the 319s have.

And maybe this is just a personal thing, but the engines in the 319 seem very, very loud than what I experience on other planes. I cringe any time I have a flight coming up on one of these, and make double sure my noise cancelling headphones are fully charged.

I'd personally say you just experienced an equipment upgrade.

There is no entertainment on the 319 vs overhead/inseat entertainment on the 738. There is also 1 fewer row of F compared to the 738 (319: 12F, 738 16F).

IF in Y the bulkhead on the 319 is a curtain giving great legroom if you can snag the seat, the 738 bulkhead is cramped.

The 319 is a little bit wider overall which makes it feel a little less cramped.

Except for lack of IFE, I much prefer the 319... The seats seem wider in Y. The 738 seems a bit more cramped.

I would echo these sentiments about the A319 - the engines (and the A320, IMHO) always seem louder than the 737 planes. The bulkhead row is better in the A319 since it is only a curtain, and the exit rows are fairly similar in terms of legroom. The A319/20 seats feel a little wider as well. If I had to choose, I would always want the 737 planes over the A319.

I also prefer the 319/320 for the more spacious feel inside the cabin. I wouldn't classify the difference as significant but it is noticeable to the frequent traveler

IFE isn't a consideration as I stopped relying on DL to entertain me, excluding WiFi, years ago. I would not advise planning a trip based on IFE (potential broken IFE or equip swap)

I find the F seats on the 319 to be terribly uncomfortable, while the Y seats are better than those on the 738.

Aren't the overheads bigger too?

They seem to be - especially in the front as the 738 curves in around row 3. A standard rollaboard seems to have trouble fitting in the overhead above rows 1,2 because of the curve.

Funny, I find it to be exactly the opposite: the 738's seem louder to me than the A32x family.
