DTW-SLC upgrade question
Hi everyone,
First time posting, love this site. I am flying DTW to SLC on Wed. Jan26 to Fri Feb4. Is it worth to upgrade for an extra $125 and 25,000 miles. FC is looks pretty open but I am wondering how likely an UG is for a GM and what the exit row seats are like on these flights.
thanks

Welcome to FlyerTalk.
You ARE joking right? No, it's not even close to worth it for 25,000 miles PLUS $125. I am just guessing but I would say a GM would have at least half of a shot of getting upgraded. Late Jan early Feb is hardly high travel season.

Is it ever worth it to use miles and extra $$$ to UG.
4 hours is a fairly long flight and I have a lot of miles which I don't use for myself because I'm always trying to earn mqm's. As a GM i am only getting upgraded about %70 and less often on longs flights. So is really that crazy to consider it?

ok, you talked me out of it,
But since it is pretty hard to get a 25000 mile award ticket and fc is over a $1000,
is it ever worth it to ug with miles and $$$?

To me, it's worth it occasionally for my family (no status) when a K fare happens be the lowest fare (or not much more than the lowest available) and there are upgrade seats (class G or Z) available on mid or trans con flights.
