One leg upgrade question

New Silver Medallion. First upgrade

SLC-DTW-YYZ Upgraded 24 hours out on DTW-YYZ leg. Doubt I will get upgrade on SLC-DTW leg.

Questions:

Will I be able to use the Skypriority security lane in SLC?
Will I be able to use the Skyclub in SLC?
Will I be able to use the Skypriority boarding lane SLC?
Will I be able to use the Skyclub in DTW?

Thank you in advance

No skyckub. Some airports allow FO into sky priority and some don't. I believe you are entitled to board with SP

1. No.
2. Yes, if you pay $50 for a one-day pass ($25 or free with certain Amex cards), otherwise No.
3. No at SLC. Yes at DTW.
4. See #2.

You will have SkyPriority and zone 1 boarding in SLC, so you can you the Elite security line and in DTW you will have the PREM zone on your bp.

When upgraded on at least one leg, you are SkyPriority for the entire trip to your destination.

Yes, he can use the SP security at SLC. If you're upgraded on one segment, you get SP benefits for the whole (one-way) trip. Your BPs for both segments should have Skypriority printed on them. Same with boarding--he/she will be zone 1 for the non-upgraded segment.

Happy travels!

Since you're a FC passenger to Canada, according to delta.dumb, you can use the SC in SLC but not DTW, although in DTW you could try to argue that you're an international passenger traveling in a premium cabin on a SkyTeam airline. Note that the definition of international on the webpage includes Canada.

Where does it say that? I'm really curious now...

I always thought that was if you purchases a FC not upgraded

You should be able to access clubs in both Salt Lake City and Detroit. I did this just last year as a Gold before having access via skyteam elite plus (flying IND-MSP-YVR, only upgraded ex-MSP).

Customers traveling in BusinessElite on an international Delta flight or a domestic Delta flight connecting to/from a same-day international Delta flight or travel in international First/Business Class on a SkyTeam-operated flight.
You can also note that on the locations page for Sky Clubs, there is a drop down menu for "Canadian First Class Passenger."

I don't think so because it doesn't mention a purchased FC ticket. For other issues, once one is upgraded, DL (and most US-based carriers at least) is admanent that one is not treated differently from those with purchased FC or BE tickets, possibly with the exclusion of OPUPs. (On NW, the FAs didn't know, although on DL the boarding pass displays the upgrade inventory code but I believe this information is not on the flight manifest.) For example, if one gets a BE upgrade before the gate for JFK-LAX, one has SC access.

Upgraded F pax does not get automatic SC access.

PM or above get SC access when flying into Canada no matter which fare class. Last time I check the parliament buildings were not flying the star and stripes.

If you get upgrade to F on any leg of your flights you get F benefit for the whole itinerary. (3 check bags) Your F upgrade also give you SkyPriority which as a Silver you do not get.

Delta.dumb says that FC passengers to/from Canada (doesn't say exception for upgrades) get SC access at SLC and certain other SCs, but MSP and DTW aren't listed. I've never tried it myself based just on this because I always have multiple ways to access SCs.

Of course Canada isn't part of the US, but DL's definitions of international are strange and seem to depend on the purpose of the question. Dovster wrote an amusing post about this a few months ago.

IIRC the SkyPriority after upgrade applies only to the single direction of travel, not the entire RT or multicity itinerary. Thus, unless one of the return segments is upgrades in advance, the OP gets SkyPriority and more bags throughout the outbound trip SLC-DTW-Canada but not for the return portion.

I always use my SC, PM or DM card to access MSP or DTW SC when returning directly to YYZ. There is like one flight per day from MSP or DTW to YYZ that has a F cabin. NW used DC9 - One F seat in that is more comfortable than two seat in the CRJ200.

When ATL doesn't know which side of the Canadian flag is up DL's definition of Canada and international doesn't surprise me.

I stand corrected, F upgrade only applies to the direction that the upgrade applies. Thanks for the correction.
