Do I need Silver?
Right now for this year I have 22 segments and 13k+ MQMs. I also have the Delta Gold AMEX. I travel approximately every month, mostly for pleasure.
I realize that for 8 more segments (or less than 12k MQMs) I can get SM. But is it worthwhile for me? And if so, what would be the cheapest way to achieve this? Thanks! |
Really? These questions are getting out of hand.
Please do a search. |
Do you have any more travel planned for the rest of the year? If you can get yourself to PIT, BNA, RDU, or STL, you can take advantage of the spoke city promo. BNA-ATL-SFO-ATL-BNA can get you about 10,550 MQMs for $219.

For the difference in price between the Gold DL AMEX and the Reserve DL AMEX, you may be able to get enough MQM's by just upgrading. That would be $450 or less.
Or you can do go the route of the Plat AMEX charge card, get 50,000 points, convert it over to get the 25 MQMs. Cost for that would be $450. (Both are covered in depth already...just do a quick search) Of course, if you already have a Gold Amex card you get your bags checked free. And if you are only traveling for pleasure I don't know that you really need Silver. But your question "is it worthwhile for me?" is one only you can answer. The better question to ask yourself is, do you want it? Your answer to that will determine whether you go for it or not. |
I would go for it. The occasional upgrade is worth it IMO.

I have been upgraded on every domestic flight since hitting silver. That is ten segments, including on long-... flights like JFK=LAS.

So I've found a site to rank flights by CPM:
http://www.farecompare.com/search/flyertalk.html Is there anything out there for finding the cheapest flights per segment for a segment run (rather than a mileage run)? |
