Employees 99.99% of the time do travel in Coach domestically. Unless your a Medallion on a Revenue ticket and get an UG your almost guaranteed a Coach seat... assuming you even get on.

agree; that is why some employees buy tickets if that is economically feasable. Some actually gain high elite status.

;)

They don't. Any passenger who is paying for BE is assured of getting the seat.

Clarifying...

My point was that pax on a paid ticket that are eligible for a free upgrade to first/biz should get that upgrade before an employee flying on a free pass.

As a business, that's just good customer service.

However, on those flights where all eligible customer upgrades have cleared, and there are still empty seats in biz/first, I would upgrade as many employees as possible, even into biz elite transoceanic.

That's just good employee/employer relations.

My opinion.

This may blow your mind but the behavior you describe is in no way limited to nonrevs. What about the nonrevs that are well dressed, board quietly, enjoy the service, and generally blend in. Interesting that you criticize other people for how they dress and yet it bothers you when someone assumes that you, too, are a nonrev because you are dressed casually.

.

I tend to agree dress has nothing to do with anything. I know when I take the family with me, we are all wearing comfy clothes or the kids are in decent PJs. It is easier to change them in the club then on the plane. Now I am sure we will see a ton of posts about kids should not be in J, but that is another story.

Interesting, how people moan and complain about this. each industry has perks, myself, in the Medical field know many physicans and have inside information on new treatments. Also when I was working in a hospital, the hospital would place employee's in a PVT room, this is a perk... People who in the communication industry have inside and deals that I can not get. So please complain that airline employee's get to fly upfront. Its a perk. Now granted, should Delta maybe place some of their elite people up front too, yes, maybe the higher elites. But cut some slack to these employee's who ride up front. ALso most of the time these employee's act better then more elites...

DL refuses to upgrade DM/PM/etc, because they want to preserve the "value" or "integrity" of their BusinessElite product... But, I am not sure how placing non-revs into J preserves the value of the J cabin.

The fact that nonrevs get to fly First/Biz Elite is a great perk! Like many jobs that give employees perks that pertain to their job field, its an added bonus! Most times they are stuck in the cattlecar in a center seat!

That's true. I think an airline's employees should be upgraded whenever possible, just as your employer gives you a private room in a hospital.

However, AFTER paying customers have been given the upgrades they are eligible for. Customers are first, always, in any business. Upgrade all customers that are eligible according to the rules. Then, afterwards, give employees the best of what is left over.
