Rollover Strategy Question
Hi Everyone,
Relatively new to posting on this forum, but I could not find a similar post using search. I am at 124K MQMs, and for various reasons, have decided not pursue DM for next year, and instead want to rollover 49K miles toward 2011 status. I called Delta, and was told I could not "refuse" DM status if I went over 125K. I estimate I have about 15K miles of remaining travel for this year. Is my only way to implement the strategy is to fly another carrier in cattle class? Or, could I fly Delta for the upgrade possibility and then switch the mileage credited to another Skyteam carrier if the upgrade clears? This would have been my approach when CO was part of Skyteam. Thanks in advance for your feedback and advice. |
If I understand, you are asking if the following situation would work:
1. Book a ticket with you SM number 2. Wait until the 5-day window and get the upgrade 3. After getting the upgrade, switch you SM number for an AF number (or some other SkyTeam partner). I am not sure what would happen to the upgrade. Definitely a hazy area that DL does not define. If you try it out let us know the results. You would definitely earn miles on AF in this scenario though, so your attempt to rollover 49K would still be entact....I believe. |
Be careful if you registered for the Hilton MQM promotion, I forgot about those miles.

In the past, DL would sometimes bump people up in status, so you might be given DM and no rollover anyway when you're this close. However, this seems to happen less since rollover started.
