International Lounge Access without Credentials

I very recently crossed the threshold and became platinum. I have two international trips within the next three weeks. Plat gives me sky team lounge access in both JNB and Tokyo (I checked at delta.com).

I will be flying delta but I am concerned my boarding passes will not show my status and thus proving I am platinum will be difficult unless I have a screen shot or something similar. I am especially concerned in JNB because there is the possibility that AF/KLM will be doing the checkin and in general I have found AF/KLM staff to be unfriendly and unhelpful.

I am talked to the medallion desk to see if they could rush the delivery of the plat card. They said impossible. (This surprised me).

Any suggestions.

[Yes, my outbound boarding pass from the US should have the info, but I can them arguing the point - esp in JNB].

.

As long as your boarding pass has PM sky elite you will be fine. Just boarding card and passport and you are fine.

Can't you just print a temporary card online? I know you could do that with NW, though I have never looked or tried with DL.

You could print out a copy of your SM account page. I was able to get into an AF lounge at CDG with such a printout when I became PM in the middle of a trip.

Don't know exactly when your flts are but it usually takes ~3 weeks to receive the packet with your card. Your boarding passes will show your status. Personally I have never shown more than my BP but others have reported being asked to show their skymiles card or medallion card.

Hope you have what you need before your flts.

I had a lot of difficulty recently using just my boarding pass to get into the af lounge in toyko, they insisted on seeing my elite plus card, i'm only an fo on a business class ticket with sky priority printed right on it. I was looking for sushi and heard a rumor that they had it in the af lounge finally i gave up and went across the hall to the delta lounge

As others have mentioned, your status will be printed on your boarding pass. I never carry my cards. Too heavy. I just have a piece of paper in my wallet with all my account numbers.

In many asian airports, my experience is that if I qualify to be in the lounge, the checkin agent will give me a pass for it.

Thanks for the replies. My concern is that the boarding pass may not show the info. The medallion desk updated the trip record to indicate my status in the notes associated with the records.

I am glad the screen dump worked at CDG. It may be as simple as that.

I am surprised an email was not generated and automatically sent, possibly with bar-coded information.

Again thanks.

The SkyClubs at NRT can look up your status regardless of what your boarding pass says. (I went from GM to PM mid itinerary, so the BP still said GM. The agent at the SC desk pulled my record and confirmed PM.) (And also at check in the same thing happened so I got priority bag tags.)

GM is Sky Priority for bags anyway, isn't it?

Yeah, sorry. This was before SP, when only STE+ got int'l bag tags.

I just got my status match to PM yesterday and I am traveling on Korean Air today. Korean Air lounge staff cannot see my status. I called Delta and the rep suggested taking out the dl number and re-enter it. It didn't work. The staff reluctantly let me into the lounge with a printout of the web page.

Does it take more time for a partner airline to see my status on Delta?

I have always had my PM or DM card with me and had no problems at all. However, I have seen those with PM on the boarding card and it did not work at ICN and CDG.

My experience is that it takes several days to update your DL file. Thus, on the second part of your trip the PM status may not be there.

I was able to get in showing the SM account page on my iPhone in CDG in January of last year. It took a bit of convincing & smiling but I got in.

[QUOTE=chunky649;14662141] I never carry my cards. Too heavy.

And I thought I travelled light :)

Just got back from London and only showed a boarding pass in MSP but needed the PL card in LHR since it's a Sky Team lounge not a Sky Club I guess.

Never had an issue with access using a boarding pass in NRT.
