Fare Changes During Booking.....

Fare Changes During Booking.....

Ok, I think that I may be out of luck here, but looking for anyone who may have other possible options for me..... SO I will throw this out there....

I am trying to book a flight from PHX to MCO 11/19... I have already booked three award FC tix on this flight, but I need to purchase one - oneway ticket for myself to accompany my guests.

I go on DL.Com and try to book this as a one way ticket and am given a fare ranging from $354 - $393.... The part that is getting me is that I can price out the same itenerary as a multi - segment ticket with PHX - ATL and then ATL - MCO. I get a price of $190. inc. taxes. I go to book this and enter all of the information, but when I press purchase, it changes the price to $393.... I have called the DL Web support and while they can reproduce the issue, they just tell me the flight is $393... Well, that would have been believable, but I can still price the same lower fare ticket. I have been trying this for the past couple of days....

If the price it really $393, it should not even give me the option for the lower fare... It is kind of deceiving in my opinion.

For those who may think I am trying to trick the system, I disagree.. I am using DL's tools to get this price. IT clearly appears on their site.. search after search....

Have you tried searching via Orbitz or Expedia or one of those sites to see what price they come up with? I checked very quickly and saw prices for PHX-MCO on 11/19 in the mid to upper 200's. Might change when you get further into the booking process, but initially it was showing less than the $393 DL kept going to.

There is U availability on PHX --> ATL and U availability on ATL --> MCO. But there is no U availability on PHX --> ATL --> MCO. That is all H. It looks like delta.dumb is initially pricing it based on U all the way through, which is dumb since this isn't available.

The cheapest will be 2866 --> 1180 connecting in SLC, in Q all the way. $278.40.

The multi city search looks at each segment availability when coming up with the price but when you get to the booking engine journey control kicks in and looks at the availability on the route.

Thanks for the responses... I was seeking flights 1746 and 2569 due to my traveling companions being on those flights.

I have found the same that you all are finding on Expedia and Orbitz...

I was hoping that someone may know a trick that would allow me to book those separately without the journey control kicking in.

"Journey Control (Booking O&D)

Journey Control technology eliminates the ability to book one flight segment at a time (point-to-point) when more than one flight is necessary to get the passenger to his or her final destination. Travelocity, Expedia & Orbitz do a better job of applying Delta's own fare rules (esp. end-to-end availability, aka "Journey control") than delta.dumb

I think they've invested millions of dollars plugging any loopholes.

I will try that route again... It priced in the upper 200's the.last attempt. It is cheaper than the full one way...
