Same PNR w/ different outbound itin?

I'm trying to get myself (FO) and my GF (no status) on the same PNR but we are on different outbound flights...

Mt itin:

10/18/10: DTW-EWR

10/25/10: LGA-DTW

GF itin:

10/22/10: DTW-LGA

10/25/10: LGA-DTW

Is there any way I can book these flights online under the same PNR or do I have to book separately and then call DL to join the inbound (LGA-DTW) segment.

My goal is to score a (longshot) companion upgrade on the LGA-DTW leg.

I could be wrong, but I think you have to wait until 10/23 (once the first segment is done) to call DL.

Of course you could book one-ways, but not sure what the fare breakdown is in those markets

No.. every passenger in a single PNR has to fly on the exactly same flights.
If there is anything at all different you will need two separate reservations.

Really - anything at all. A different fare class would be disqualifying, too.

The only system that I know of that allows this is Amadeus. Their term for this is a non-homogeneous PNR. Agents can book and price the itineraries as if it was a single PNR, but at end transaction the PNR is automatically split.
