And that thread ended in what is still a big secret -- which would get me killed by a number of Delta Forum regulars if it ever got out.

Still, those who attended got a surprise they will treasure for the rest of their lives. (All except me -- I couldn't take advantage of it.)

This is not good news if you want to attend the events on Friday, October 22, 2010, as there is only one opening for the Operations Control Center. Otherwise, that day is completely full.

However, we currently have the following slots still open as of the time this was posted:

Delta Executive Engagement — 6 slots left open
Lunch Sponsored by Delta — 5 slots left open
Delta Heritage Museum — 11 slots left open
Delta Operations Control — 1 slot left open
Delta Technical Operation — Completely full with no slots open
ATL Fire Station Tours — 22 slots left open
Road Warrior Training I — 39 slots left open
Road Warrior Training II — 80 slots left open

As of now, anyone who is on the waitlist that wants to attend one or both Road Warrior Trainings will be able to attend them with no problem, while only the first 11 waitlisted people who want to attend the Delta Heritage Museum will have first choice.

We are still working on the number of attendees that can attend the dinners on all three nights, as we want for everyone to be able to attend. Please stay tuned...

Other venues are still in the planning stages and will be announced once confirmed.

Note — Those who are on the waitlist will still be required to pay the $95.00 registration fee once they are confirmed, as that covers the technology for www.atldo.com, printed materials, etc. even though some venues are now completely full.
I thought that once you registered you were automatically signed up for all events, with the exception of RWD I & II, which you had to ask for separately.

Isn't that the case?

If so, how come there are some events with more people attending than others?

You have to manually check the boxes next to the events you want to attend, if my memory serves. There is a good chance I will not be able to attend on Thurs or Fri, so a few more slots might be opening.

Your memory is better than mine -- but I just went back to the website and made certain I was signed up for all the events except RDW II.

Believe it or not, as with last year, attendees did not want to attend all of the venues for a variety of reasons.

We want as many people to attend the event this year without diminishing the intimacy of the event last year, which is another reason why we did things this way.

Once you are a registered attendee, if you decide that you cannot attend a venue, or you want to attend a venue which you did not think you could originally attend, please let us know.

I've just read through the last 4 or 5 pages of this thread, so if there is something in an earlier post about what I'm asking, please forgive me...

For those of us who can't take the time off on Wed and Thurs, are there any other activities scheduled for Fri night or Sunday? I'm getting in late on Friday afternoon and signed up for Road Warrior training for Sat and have a pretty late flight on Sunday. Will it be mostly informal or will there be activities actually planned for Friday night, Sat night and Sunday afternoon? I could probably do a SDC and head home a little earlier on Sunday, but would rather get to do something with some of the people from here if possible.

As Canarsie indicated, we are currently have 23 additional people on the waitlist. I wish we could simply just accommodate everyone who wants to attend with no limits. Just to put things into perspective, last year we have a TOTAL registration of 66 people. This year, counting the current registrations and the volunteer staff, we are already at a TOTAL of 128 people, almost DOUBLE that group and growing. There are several reasons that we have to hold steady at our current limits:
  1. Both Canarsie and I want to maintain a smaller and more personalized experience for those attending, which is difficult, if not impossible to do when the group becomes too large. In my personal opinion it was one of the major highlights from last year.

  2. It is difficult to plan logistics including transportation for a group this size. As it is now, for the venues such as the TOC, Firestation and evening events, we will already require two full size buses (55 per bus) to transport everyone.

  3. For venues like the TOC, we are in a secure FAA location that is a live production environment that requires a badged escort for every 5 visitors for both safety and security purposes. For this group that will require Delta to provide 25 employees just to manage that single venue. The OCC can only handle approximately 30 visitors at a time, we will have to schedule more than 4 separate visits just to accommodate this group.
We greatly appreciate the outstanding support that the Delta team is providing us, and there is a tremendous amount of work going on “behind the scenes” to pull this event together. If you review the feedback from last year’s event, one of the most common themes was highlighting the incredible and personable hospitality from the Delta employees in each and every venue that became one of the key cornerstones of this event. With that said, we want to be very mindful that we are guests in a real time production and working environment, and we are visiting areas and venues that are not equipped to handle large groups of visitors. I could give you more details, but you get the picture in terms of the logistics and effort it will take to pull this event together.

We will release some of the additional slots on the waitlist in small groups, and do our best to let you know what you the availability of the venues before you register.

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we work through this process to accommodate as many people as we possibly can for this event.

P.S. No comments about me pulling my hair out while planning this event. It appears that already happened from last year's event.

Just so that everyone knows, Canarsie is updating the posts at the beginning of the thread with new information as it becomes available. Much better and certainly a more efficient that the process than I followed last year.

Now... to answer your specific question: Yes, there are activities planned for Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening. We just haven't announced the venues as we are still working on those. We will most likely add the evening events to the online registration soon and ask everyone to sign up for those so that we can get an accurate headcount for planning purposes.

As far as "informal" activities, certainly one is in the works for Wednesday evening (mersk862), and I am sure one will fall together on Sunday evening for those that are still around. There are also some "other" impromptu activities that pop-up at these events, (trips to the Waffle House, Varsity, etc.) just like last year, but I think I will let others comment about those...

IIRC, there are no other activities yet planned but more is coming for those not attending scheduled events.

Canarsie said there would be 4 full days planned so I figured it would go to at least 5-6 pm on Sunday. Add in some time for dinner before leaving, then travel to ATL, a little time for a quickie or three in the SC, and Sun evening will be filled.

All of us are staying tuned for more details...

I know the registration asked how we would like our name badge to read - how did everyone do this last year - do you automatically have screen names added to what ever we want on our badge or do we have to request it?

Re: museum gift shop, I really wish I could get more NWA silverware. I used to have a full set (I borrowed one from one of the last NW flights, figured they wouldn't be missed but happy to send in a check if I was wrong), made it out of the airport, but then got screwed as I forgot to place them in checked luggage for the return journey. Doh! So now I am short a knife...

(never really understood the logic of TSA taking away something that was "given" to me on a plane...)

Uhh mmmmm... I don't believe you're NOT being there is an option that I will consider. You have plenty of time to get that work stuff worked out. If you need a permission slip, let me know.

We asked how your would like your name badge to read as some people wanted to have a different name listed on their badge than their legal name, i.e. Bill instead of William, Chris instead of Christopher, etc. Your FlyerTalk "handle" or Username that you provided during your registration process will also be on your badge as that is how most of the other FlyerTalk members will recognize who you are. So yes, your screen name on FT will automatically on your badge. Canarsie has developed a draft version of those badges and they look very COOL...

BTW... If you didn't provide your legal name, i.e. the name that appears on your Government issued ID (just like TSA), you will need to update your registration. Your Visitor Badge MUST match your ID for the FAA secure areas of the airport.

Before anyone asks - I got this question several times last year, no we are not providing a "cross" reference list of First and Last name along with FT name to Delta. I will say, that even if we did, I personally don't see that as an issue. Delta knows my FT handle along with my real name, phone number, email, along with other details, and so far, they are still letting me on their planes, and do return my phone calls and emails.

I have certainly been accused of being short of a lot of things, but I have never been short a knife.

We can certainly check and see if the Museum has any NWA silverware. Paging WesNSpace! What did they do with all that leftover flatware, it has to be somewhere ?!?

Glad to hear that in-flight can finally solve the mystery of that missing flatware! I am willing to bet you can keep that as gratis...
