That would be because Royal PITA is a lifetime moniker for you!

I can't remember the exact year the Medallion/Royal Medallion program started but I'm guessing 1987-1990 or so.
You are correct. Canarsie will have to award you your prize as soon as he figures out what this is...

  • The Medallion Level was introduced on June 1, 1987 by Whit Hawkins, Senior Vice President of Marketing.
  • The Royal Medallion Level, was introduced on January 1, 1993, by Robert E. Coggin, Senior Vice President of Marketing.

Interesting note: When the Medallion Program was introduced, it was "reserved for only two percent of the best frequent travelers." SEE BELOW. Could this be the once infamous 2% club?

Interesting indeed.... However the 2% club is/was supposed to on NWA, not DL.....

They were already secretly plotting the merger back in 1987...

Huuummm, I wonder what would be "fun and very satisfying" that would be legal to arrange for a group like us? Perhaps a taste test of new BE menus (satisfying if we can eat it all) and fun if it includes sampling the wines too.

Since I guessed the mystery dinner location (it was easy), Wes can verify, I was starting to feel competitive about figuring out the new one. Unfortunately, "fun and very interesting" isn't very specific and could describe just about everything that's scheduled for the DO. Perhaps a behind-the-scenes secret hidden tour of ATL ending with buggy (electric golf cart thingies) races through the E terminal? Or the tarmac BBQ with rampers that some of us are longing for? (I think this one was already vetoed, or at least tabled until next year.) A PJ party in Anderson's office? An escorted special tour of SkyMilesInsider's favorite places in Atlanta, including the best cheese shops? A chance to take apart a new nude-o-meter to see how it works with no obligation to reassemble the thing, sledge hammers provided? A decorating contest for a total gut and remodel (down to the concrete and wall studs) of the B10 SC, including a big bonfire? (Extermination to be outsourced.) A chance to print our own SkyMiles (sponsored by AmEx) and write our own award tickets, with a prize for the most creative itinerary? A ride in the Spirit of Delta, including some wild flying such as a very quick ascent, an aborted landing, and buzzing HQ and the Hilton (probably seriously dangerous given the level of aircraft traffic around ATL, so I'd settle for a scenic air tour of rural Georgia)?
All of these sound good! Where do I sign up?

The quiet before the big storm, or is it the BIG announcement which was announced early?

atldlff and I have multiple meetings scheduled at the world headquarters of Delta Air Lines tomorrow afternoon.

We will report more news about this event when definite and confirmed.

Thank you for your patience.

Yeah, DYKWHI? Why he's the third assistant to the eighth vp of the fourteenth division acquired by the company that he works for. And when he gets angry, well, watch out, because when he gets angry, just you wait, because when he gets angry, you're gonna really be surprised, because when he gets angry, well, not too much happens, except his face gets really red, steam comes out his ears, and he does scare small children.

As the Pope say "Pazienza figlio mio". But then there is the question on when the announcement announcing the announced announcement will be announced.

Morning/Evening all.

Just a quick heads up that access to the agenda system will be limited today and tomorrow as we start getting our group assignments ready. The system will be available on Saturday but the group assignments will not be announced until a later time.

Thanks,

Wes

WesNSpace and other volunteers,
There was some discussion earlier in the thread about special requests for the sims. How and when should those be handled?

For instance, I and my +1 would like to NOT be together in a sim. (If she doesn't like the way I drive a sporty car, why would she like the way that I fly a sim?) We would, however, like to be grouped together for all other events.

Several FTers or their +1s have posted requests to be grouped in a sim without a lot of (actual or wannabe) hotshot pilots. Should these requests be collected now or shuffled later?

Similarly, when should initial requests for specific cities/scenarios be made?

I've considered maybe setting up a shared Google Docs spreadsheet in which such requests could be added by anyone, but maybe another idea is already in the works. If you'd like to discuss by PM, email, or phone, you have my contact info.

IMHO, as someone who has planned large group events before, that's not going to, no pun intended, fly without complicating things. That sounds much more like a "day of" type decision to change where the group members going at that time should have a chat about who wants what out of the sim and pair off accordingly...
