DL announce nonstop JFK-SNA

Hi All,

DL will start more new n/s JFK-SNA sometimes on Sept 7, 2010. The timing does not good connecting opportunities through JFK hub. Maybe it will try to have more flexibility the schedules in the future. So here it is:

Leaves JFK at 820a gets into SNA 1144a 73W
Leaves SNA at 130p gets into JFK at 950p 73W

starts 9/7

Regards

Seems flights should be the opposite to support JFK Europe flights.

What are they thinking we these flight times? A route I'd love to patronize, but the schedule is completely useless! No good for connections, and not even useful for putting in a day's work in NYC.

If I had to guess I would assume its additional padding expecting for late arrivals from JFK.

But I agree with the other, horrible flight time if anyone is connecting anywhere.

Is it the same plane that does the turn? I'm thinking it could be a JFK-SNA-ATL and a ATL-SNA-JFK type swap to rotate the fleet around.

In contrast, CO's 3 SNA-EWR nonstops make much more sense...

7:45a-4:02p
3:50p-11:55p
9:15p-5:15a

The 7:45a allows for either an evening out or plenty of transatlantic connections.

EDIT: It took me a day to realized the 2nd two arrival times were wrong. Sorry about that. The commentary is still valid.

Or you could just go from LAX to many European cities directly on a *A flight.

Maybe they think there's actual O&D traffic SNA-NYC.

Agreed.

I'm sure there is, but not likely too many folks who want to waste their day in transit just for the pleasure of flying DL into the JFK pit.

In contrast to CO's 3:40PM SNA departure arriving EWR at 11:55PM, which also clearly connects to nothing?
