Don't forget the possibility that you only get double the BASE mileage...

In DL math, triple is really 2.3x, unless you're ex-NW, which case it's only 2.x.

The response

"I appreciate your concerns over the promotion offer double MQMs from the
targeted cities of St. Louis, Raleigh-Durham, Pittsburgh and Nashville.
The promotion's terms and conditions are that trips must be on
Delta-marketed and operated nonstop flights originating out of St.
Louis, Pittsburgh, Nashville, or Raleigh Durham.

Currently, no nonstop flight to Sydney, Australia exists from any of
these four cities. In fact, few nonstop international flights originate
out of these airports. Perhaps the lone exception is the nonstop between
Pittsburgh and Paris.

From an international standpoint, Ms. FC Flyer, I am pleased to
reassure you that little impact will be felt on your benefits from this
promotion."

They are obviously giving out conflicting information.
If this CSR is accurate then this promo make very little sense. I checked the flight schedule for STL and found zero nonstops to ANY destination other than the Delta hubs. I think RDU has the most non-hub non-stops at four (LAX, IND, LGA and BOS). They really need to clarify this through official channels because this He said, She said stuff is getting pretty old.

This email from some DL drone approaches the style of theater of the absurd -- cliches, wordplay and nonsense. The writer is pleased to reassure that little impact will be felt on your benefits? What fresh he** is this?

Let's see, DL offers enticing MQM and mileage bonusus for international flights from FOUR cities. Except, golly, three of the cities have no qualifying (nonstop) international flights and the fourth city has only a few, sorry, only one. So if THIS email is to be believed, the bonus should have read that there are bonuses for domestic nonstops to hubs and internationally only on the PIT-CDG nonstop. They are either incredibly clever with this obfuscation to trick us into booking international trips we otherwise would not have booked and then being "so sorry" later, or they are incredibly incompetent. Right hand meet left hand.

Three e-mails later, here is the one I just received moments ago

"Thank you for your e-mail. We regret any misunderstanding that may have
occurred concerning our procedures.

I have forwarded you comments on to our promotions department for
clarification. It does sound like there may be some misleading
information regarding this specific offer. I wouldn't want to guess
and give you my opinion when it may not be correct. When I receive the
specific details I will be in touch.

Please accept our apology for the unfavorable impression you received in
this instance. We appreciate your selection of Delta and will always
consider it a privilege to be of service. "

wow! someone with reading skills and free thinking to see something other than the partyline? while the promo dept may think their wording is clear it is not. go figure. LOL i think they had not thought anyone would look that close at the poor wording.

hope the person up the chain can clear this whole mess up b/c really only having ONE non-stop flight intl is just lame and quite misleading.

You really have to think the unclear wording is intentional - because they keep doing it over and over and over again. So someone is either intentionally writing it this way, or someone is intentionally refusing to fire the whoever insists on writing it this way.

It's just ridiculous that a major corporation can have communications like this that are this confusing.

If this promo is intended to address WN in these cities, double MQMs for nonstop and connections thorough hubs makes sense. International makes little sense, unless the promo was considering AA competition at RDU, BNA, and STL.

The bonus miles make sense regardless at trying to woo customers from WN and AA.

I wonder if the intent of this plan is that double MQMs would only be earned on the spoke city to hub leg, and then the only bonus from the hub city to the destination are the bonus SkyPesos(tm).

I guess I will wait until I know the specifics before I try to change my flight to FCO to originate from BNA vs. ATL.

As long as you are connecting thru a hub it is "non-stop"
Non-stop, meaning "non-change of transportation method"? Delta is writing itself into customer anger by doing what Alaska did a few months back.

So every other response from these folks are just guesses and can't be relied upon anyway? In other words, they don't necessarily represent the promotions dept.

Perhaps everyone who emails these folks should start off with something like, "Please forward my following questions to your promotions department for clarification."

I doubt it, but I would love to know, since I just signup for it prior to returning from AMS. Not sure if I will get credit for it since only the return was during the promo.

Where is SkyMilesInsider? This is a situation where he'd be very useful. Anyone know how to point him here?
