When will it be?
It's a;most June. I have yet to be able to check-in on line successfully. There hasd been an improvment if you can call it that. For the first time today, I was able to check-in on line. But guess what? It still couldn't print my boarding cards and sent me into a DO LOOP. How are you guys coping with this?

What I really wish was possible would be if Delta would go back to the "pre-September 11th, 2001" plan, which was to essentially do away with "checkin" entirely. They were on the verge of rolling out a system where you'd be able to "checkin" by phone or internet, and use your SkyMiles card at the gate. No paper necessary. |

I've had no problems with OLCI or printing BPs at all. I've taken at least a half dozen trips this year and it's worked flawlessly each time. You may have some other problem because at least in my experience the system seems to be working fine.
The advantages to checking in online is that the earlier you check in, the less chance you have of being bumped involuntarily. If there aren't enough volunteers on an oversold flight, they will start bumping the last ones to check in. In addition, if you travel with only carry-on baggage, as I frequently do, you can go right to security. |
OP, it may be an issue with either your profile or your computer. I've done OLCI numerous times using many different computers, operating systems, browsers and printers without issues.

OLCI works pretty well for me, too, except for every now and then on a same day return MR.
If you use the kiosks and are not upgraded, you don't get the "Have one on us" coupon, correct? |
OLCI is great if you are in a rush and not checking in bags. You can go right to the TSA security bypassing the line to print a boarding pass.
|
I use OLCI all the time. Beats standing in line, even if the line is short, at the kiosk. And you don't get your free drink coupon if you fly coach if you use the kiosk.

I always try to use OLCI after the time I got burned. I was late getting to the airport (thanks to a sloth of a coworker) and it 0:28 when I got to the kiosk. Locked out for gate control. Had to spend the night in nowheresville. If I had checked in online I would have gone through security and gotten on my flight.

Last checked-in, first off was the NW IDB protocol. It is not the Delta arrangement.

Add me to the "never had a problem with OLCI" group. I've done it on delta.com over a dozen times this year so far, including international itineraries, and never had a problem. Perhaps the OP is on the TSA watch list ?

This has not worked well for some international flights as reported in another thread here but I am going to try it on Sunday because my e-SWUs are not closed out for the trip.

I've had problems several times this year. All with 'complications' in my record.
1) Bizarre issue checking into a flight with a KLM leg. It allowed me to checkin, but did not print the boarding pass for the KLM leg. However, when I went back later to reprint my boarding pass it was there! 2) Back in February the delta.com would not let me checkin at all for a leg from FCO to CDG. In fact, they couldn't find my record at all in the system. Luckily I had my ticket # with me. They found that and were able to check me in at the counter. (I also tried checking in on KLM.com and AF.com and with the Kiosks with the same results). 3) On the same February flight I still could not checkin online for my return leg from CDG to ATL. I was forced to go to the ticket purchase deck in CDG to pay additional taxes. Delta refused to collect them over the phone. Outright refused. I have to say that these problems have softened considerably with the roll out of the Diamond line. If Diamond is the only way to get proper customer service then Delta has a troubled future. 4) Problems checking in when using SWU's. Both times I had to call the diamond line to get it resolved. The first time, it was a quick let me take this comment off your record for the return and then I could check in. The agent then restored the comment that was preventing the checkin. The next time the agent had no clue how to fix it and told me I had to check in at the airport. I insisted this was not going to work for me. We broke the call with me a very unhappy diamond, and then she called me back 15-20 minutes later (at midnight mind you) to tell me she had figured it out and that I should now try to checkin. And voila it worked. On my return flight I had no problems checking in at all. Last year, it wouldn't allow OLCI for any international flights but they have since fixed that by allowing the entry of passport info at OLCI. I will give Delta credit for making it better, but clearly they have not ironed out the bugs. For the OP -- I would start by getting a TSA redress # and giving it to Delta to load into your record. That may help you clear up your problem. Let us know if it works! |

What could possibly be wrong with a profile? Something like a super secret double no-fly list or something similar. Twice, even the check-in agents have had trouble printing all my BP's. Today, neither the check-in agent, nor the nice Skyclub ladies could print my LAX-SYD BP. It's obviously not my computer. Similar things have happened some of my domestic flights. Consequently, I have not had a glitch free trip this year. Either I couldn't check-in, if I could check-in, it wouldn;t print any boarding card(s), on multiple occasions even Delta agents were unable to print the BPs, until I have flown a few segments. Once I was checked in for one segment of the return trip. LAst night, when I got to the print BP popint, it would say, we apologise for not being able to print your BP (Right, Delta apologises for my compiUer being bad! :D). You are checked in. Please go back to the check-in page to print your boarding passes. I went back to the initial check-in page. It made me go tjhrogh the steps I had already gone through, with the samew result and the same advice to go back to the check-in page. I had expected that DL would say "You are already checked in, please print your BP's n ow". But NO. DL claimed I was checked in but it still made me put in my Passport, DoB and other relevant information again and again. But Of course, The respondent above and DL know my computer is bad. :D Meanwhile people in the tech support must be lying that they have many unresolved bugs. |

I was able to print my board passes this afternoon including AMS-EDI for tomorrow so this is a first for me in OKC. I doubt there will be problems even though the 2 e-SWUs in question continue to show as open in my profile.
Now, my main challenge is to get them to give me back FC for the very final leg coming home (DTW-OKC). |
I used to never be able to check-in online thanks to TSA "watch list" issues. Now that the Secure Flight program is in place I can check-in online no problem.
I wonder if the OP is having similar issues but just hasn't filled out the Secure Flight data yet on Delta.com? I've noticed that ever since I entered it a month ago or so I haven't had to re-enter it for each reservation. It appears to be saved with my SkyMiles profile because I have booked flights on other sites like Expedia and I still don't have to re-enter the data. -RM |
The one time OLCI did not work for me I spent about half and hour on the phone with a rep who fixed the problem but could not tell me what the problem was because it was "ageist policy" to disclose that infomation.
As it turned out it was a TSA problem and I had been selected for extra screening, I guess that "ageist policy" means that the airline can not inform you of extra TSA screening. Other that this I have had no problems with OLCI, and I have used multiple operating systems to check in (Mac at home, PC at the place I am visiting) |
