Using E-Cert/E-Credit for someone else?
Forgive me, but I tried to do a quick search for this topic but couldn't find the answer.
I want to book a flight for my fiance using some e-credits/certs that I have. Was hoping to do this today since I saw the fare had dropped. I want to hopefully do this via the DL website, but the only way I see to use the e-certs that are on my Profile is if I'm signed into my SM acct. But by doing this it grays out my name in the pax info section so it can't be changed. So, like the subject line states...is there a way to use an e-cert/e-credit for someone else? Thanks! |
To give a little more info she will be traveling alone and meeting me when she lands, so I will not be on the flight with her.
Thanks |
Anyone?

Log out of your Skymiles account and log into the account of your beloved. Select the flights she wants and then click on
View or Redeem Certificates & eCredits Then enter the certificate number. |
She doesn't have a SM acct....I am also using 3 different certs for the fare since some are low leftover $ amounts and expire soon. I will try this in the morning....thanks!

It appears to me that there are two types of ecertificates.
One is non-transferable, and you get the grayed out boxes. The other is transferable and you don't get the grayed out boxes. I'm not sure of the why, but the non-transferable ones seem to be unused etickets, while the transferable ones are more like MCOs. I would love to actually understand how the different types are created, and if there is any way to morph a non-transferable one and make it transferable.

I know a lot of FTers don't have much faith in DL customer service reps but I would just call and ask them how to do what you want to do. At least worth a shot since you are not getting specific help here to-date. And then, of course, report back to us if you get an answer so we'll all know how to do it in the future. (smile)

Sign her up for a SM account. Then book the ticket using her SM number. If I recall, you can use up to 3 e-certs per ticket on Delta.

Just call the Delta DM line and have them book it for you.
Alot easier and faster, and there is no phone booking charges for DMs. |

Alot easier and faster, and there is no phone booking charges for DMs. There is no booking fee for a ticket for yourself, but they will assess a fee on a ticket for someone else. They did this to me last month -- and didn't even tell me about it. The first indication was when it showed up on my amex. I called and they reversed it, but they made it clear that the fee exemption only applies when you are booking a ticket for yourself. I assume this doesn't apply to mileage awards, but hard to know with the new order. |
