Booking / Award search engine updated [18 May]

delta.com award search engine was updated and I was able to use the award calendar on the first try. I'm glad to see some progress! ^

Actually I think the whole search engine was updated. Nice progress.

No change on summer domestic flights that I have been following. Still only mid or high level awards in July.

I really can't tell the difference, the process is somewhat different but I still coundn't find any meaningful availability. For example, searching by calendar I couldn't find a single low date in either Y or J from now until the end of the year IAD-IST.

Blue smoke and mirrors changes to the interface are fluff without underlying changes in award availability.

Booking engine change?

There is definitely a change in the page layout since last night. Check boxes aren't clean and some sub-functions (e.g. date flexbility creates a kind of sub-pop-up). Also seeing an award check box on the main booking engine instead of having to use the Skymiles menu.

This looks like they've gone even deeper into the flash style formatting - I'm sure mobile browsers will have more difficulty with this format.

Speaking of mobile - have I missed something or is DL the last company without an iphone app?

A large data push / update occurred last night... start playing with award bookings and keep reporting... YOU are the guinea pigs for Delta...

No change in award availability for me either. Only medium and high.

I was hoping the new interface would show miles required by segment for multi-city award ticketing, but it doesnt. I REALLY hope Delta adds this simple feature so you dont have to try hundreds of combinations, trial by error, to find low level tickets.

Same result here from this "beta" tester.

Seems to be new drapes on the same old windows.

SMI did say the changes would be gradual and over time. I just want to know what those changes will be...

No change in availability for two different flights I've been following. In fact, now several dates in the month show award availability as n/a and the date is greyed out.

Note to Delta: After you do an award search, then press "Start Over" to change the departure city, the cabin class reverts to coach.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8320/4.5.0.81 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Without increased availability, this means nothing.

Did a sample search for ATL-CDG in J. Found two days that said "Low" and tried to book.

The price ended up being 275K
