Proof

Ok, so I was wondering last week, I flew on a B fare as a diamond reserve and was number 6 on the upgrade list and this is a low SkyMiles flight, from BDL-ATL. Expert flyer stated that there were 9-Y fares, 9-B fares, and 9-M fares still available.

Because I am starting to doubt my benefits, is there anywhere I can verify what the status is??

thanks

I'm not sure that remaining availability is a measurement of previous sales. Sounds like a really nasty bell curve. Lots of Paid F/Y and T's, and nothing in the middle?

Did you purchase your flight in advance of the 5 day UG window or closer to flight time?

What plane was it? (some have a smaller F cabin).

Regardless of when he purchased the ticket, it seems very strange that a DM/Reserve on what is the 2nd highest ticket is #6. Nobody should be higher except for other medallions on a Y fare. Were there really 5 other medallions people on full Y or that many rebooked into Y due to prior irrops?

That was my point exactly. And yes, I purchased more than 7 days out. I just don't believe there were 5 other DM that purchased a full Y fare.

What's a "diamond reserve"? Is that a DM who holds the Amex Reserve card? Perhaps we need another two-letter moniker: DR. Paging DR. Evan!

What's a "low SkyMiles flight"? Does that mean one can get low mileage awards? How does this relate to a B fare or the upgrade list?

Perhaps as rylan stated there were irops that re-booked a bunch of people in Y. Because of volcano week could some of 1 through 5 have been pilots (Delta or not) being re-positioned? Does EF have a track record of rarely being wrong?

Perfectly feasable. Ever seen how bad MSP/DTW-SEA is? There's been some reports of some cities seeing a short-term importation of specialized-consultants. If there's a huge project in Hartford that requires a big supply of consultants, it'll effect the upgrade patterns.

Any Medallion (even a Silver) on a full Y ticket trumps a Diamond Reserve on a B.

Yup.

Were there no A fares left? A "B" fare is usually more expensive than an "A" fare which would have put you right into First.

Plus, according to Delta.com, there could have been other DMs who booked a B fare before you did.

2Clearance starts with B class and continues in descending order. If Medallion level and fare class are equal, time of ticketing will be the tie breaker.

A few weeks ago, I was DM on a full-Y ticket ATL-SFO and was #4. I did buy the ticket a couple of days out so I'm guessing there were other DM's who bought their tickets before I did.

1. Elite inflation
2. People buying F or Y fares
3. Broken check-in

In order of likelihood (last being least)
