What does "EQP 01" mean?
I just printed out my boarding pass LGA->ATL and saw "EQP 01" under the seat assignment. As an FYI, I booked a Q fare but was upgraded to First 5 days out (I'm PM).
Thoughts? |
Sounds like they did an equipment change.

I don't know the exact reason and meaning, but it usually signals a last-minute equipment change. If I were you, I would logon to DL.com and make sure that you still have the kind of seat you originally wanted (and that you are still in F).

EQP 01 can either be a great friend (I've gone from a domestic 757 to a BE-equipped 763 on a transcon) or a bad enemy (losing my exit row on a swap from a -90 to an -88).
|
I've even seen EQP02 before - equipment changed twice :). Basically if they have an equipment change and you printed your boarding pass before this you see nothing. If you see EQP01 then it signifies that you printed your boarding pass after the first equipment change and your seat assignment is correct and set. I've had them tell people to check if their boarding pass had EQP 01 on it and if it didn't to check in at the desk before.
This is day of departure changes - not equipment changes further out than the day of departure. That's how I understand it at least. |

Thanks guys. Good call on the equipment change. Was originally a 757 but now MD88. Luckily I was 4C so I made it...barely but first is first!

As others have posted already, it means that an equipment change has taken place. This happens to me quite frequently on MIA-ATL-MIA legs (especially on the morning flights) and it always changes from a transcon 757 with IFE to a standard domestic 757 with no IFE, grrrrrr.

I've been in the gate area and heard annoucements made that ask anyone whose boarding pass does NOT have "EQP #" on it, please check with the agent before boarding.
It's a way to tell visually if someone has an older BP that may have changed. |
It also happened when there was a "virtual" equipment change. A couple of months ago, the online and kiosk seat maps showed the wrong planes. Whenever I approached a GA to board at this periode, I got a new BP with the EQP on it correcting the seat assignments (wrong 76Q to correct 763).

Also, with the 757 being a workhorse of the fleet and with the NW / DL merger, there are many varients that often get switched last minute.
