Escorting passengers to gate
 

My parents (late 70's,but don't require wheelchairs) are flying out of MSP tonight.

Anybody had any experience trying to get gate passes to escort elderly relatives to the gate ?

Last time they visited I requested gate passes and was told they "didn't do that anymore"

Would flashing DM credentials at the counter help do you think ??

I've had no problem asking the ticket agent to give me a security pass (like a boarding pass) to escort my Brasilian girlfriend, but YMMV.

Push comes to shove, if they won't do it, you can redeem some miles immediately for a ticket, get the boarding pass, go through security and once through call back and redeposit the miles. Much like buying a full Y ticket and cancel/refunding, but it won't tie up a credit card at all.

Does mileage redeposit count against one of your two PM changes? I much prefer the purchased ticket route. If refunded the same day as purchased, it often never even shows up on the credit card statement.

I would flash the DM card. I would be surprised if that did not work.

Is there still a mechansim to get through security as a SC member? DMs are full members now, although it might help to already have the official membership card? You should be able to guest the parents (two are allowed) into the SC with you to wait for the flight, although this might also require the purchase of a refundable ticket for later the same day.

To utilize the SC you will need a ticket for same day travel or a confirmed reservation for a conference room at the SC.

I have used my DL reserve for a SkyClub gate pass at LAX. I'd try to go that route.
