Fleet allocation after delay
 

A friend is flying over to the uk on dl12 this evening - atlanta > LGW.
Normally that's the same plane as dl11 from LGW, stops to refuel and goes back.

Dl11 is showing as 4.5 hours late, will they use a new plane for dl12 or wait for the earlier one to get to atlanta?

DL12 is still estimated as on time but there's plenty of time for that to change.

Any ideas what might happen?

I suspect Delta isn't about to tamper with the flight status until the last minute. They could decide to delay it, or the could decide to do an equipment sub.

Just as an update, DL12 left 9 minutes late yesterday. So they obviously used a different aircraft.
