Gate: XLD
Flight 1960 ATL-DCA tomorrow is showing "Gate XLD". Call to PSS was answered "General Reservations" with "I see you're a platinum member" (nice touch:rolleyes:).
She says all flights are operating tomorrow, no cancellations, including 1960. According to her, XLD simply means "Gate Unassigned", nothing more. The first segment of the flight (originates at IAH) is showing arrival at E27. I hope they're planning to swap equipment for a larger plane to take folks out that were disrupted today, but I have a really bad feeling about this.... |
1960 was cancelled today. Gate assignments for tomorrow pull from today on delta.com until they have actually assigned a gate.

Picks up the gate assignment from the previous day'sflight.
|
I've had this many times before - I wouldn't worry about it.

Ah, OK. Interesting that they don't pick it up from the inbound/originating segment.
In all the years I've been fly DL (2.5 million MQM), this is the first time I've run across the situation where it hasn't meant "canceled". And I"ve seen that plenty of times.... |

It's an interesting thing. I know I bring this up a million and one times, but the SMRS tables that DL used to assign gates really are quite amazing.
Unfortunately, they're also legacy, so if your flight out of A16 gets canceled, 9/10 times you've got to "move" that flight to another gate or the computer will get p!ssy when you try to assign the new flight number to that gate on day of departure. Always a fun time when you run into IROPs and in a city like mine was, we would often have 3 flights for 2 gates, and so we'd borrow a third gate from OAL but couldn't assign it because that requires assigning a printer that doesn't physically exist. So we'd just delete the gate assignments completely (it really only matters for Mainline aircraft, because we had to send messages via ACARS and if the assigned gate in the SMRS gate assignment table and the what gate the computer knew you were at didn't match, it was always a fun time...) |
