Biz award fare code buckets

Just a note for those that are curious.

The international Biz-E award code buckets are O, OD, and OK for low, medium, and high redemption levels.

I didn't ask about the economy class award buckets.

Now all we need is for expertflyer or KVS to show these buckets' availability.

That's good news. Personally I prefer the KVS interface to ExpertFlyer, so when/if it comes you'll get yourself a new customer.:D

+1(ish). Once the mobile interface is up, EF is gone. I get more reliable results from KVS.

An updated version of the KVS Tool is now available for download at http://www.KVSTool.com/

Please refer to the updated chart at http://Help.KVSTool.com/#Classes for details, incl. DL 3-tier awards.

IT WORKS!! I just found a pdx-ams-fco-ams-pdx trip, BE in March that showed award availability at the "low" level on KVS, went to dl.com, signed on, searched for the round-trip award, selected the flights that KVS showed as low level and voila, 100k miles. I didn't even have to search by segment on either KVS or dl.com, I just put in the cities and let 'er rip.

That's certainly great to hear -- enjoy your award!

How appropriate. Bucket O ("oh") might as well be hard-coded to 0 ("zero"). Easier for the programmers.

El Boocho Feb 16, 2010 8:42 am

Does KVS show V/G/X/Z availability now. I seem to remember that in the past it might not have.

All DL award classes are supported in the KVS Tool, but upgrade classes are not. Please see http://Help.KVSTool.com/#Classes

Resolved: [Awards/SkyTeam] Method Issues

KVS Tool members are reminded to upgrade to the latest version (V5.4.4). This will resolve any "Data Source Error" issues when using the [Awards/SkyTeam] Method.

So let me get this straight. It appears to me that DL V and Z classes are not shown on KVS. Is that correct? However, KL D and Z are shown. Also correct?

Just ordered KVS tool although haven't gotten registration (takes up to 24 hours), so haven't played w/the tool yet (which may answer my question), but did look at the classes link for Delta provided by KVS:

http://Help.KVSTool.com/#Classes

I'm unsure what the correct code is a for a low reward international/europe fare (searching for the elusive 60,000 mile ones to Europe on Delta or SkyMiles partners in KVS). Can someone clarify which code I'm looking for or is this abundantly clear when you open the tool?

Standard (xS) Awards in the KVS Tool (1st column of the table in the link above) correspond to DL SM "Low" Awards. The Help page has now also been updated for clarity.

Will DL upgrade classes become available in the future?

The lack of Z availability information is a real drag for me.

Cheers.

For me as well. I search for Z (and V) the most often of any class(es) and right now am paying EF and waiting on KVS.

So forgive me as I'm new to KVS, but when the availability shows as "CX" (rather than, say "CS", "CM" or "CA"), what does that mean?

From http://Help.KVSTool.com/:
Legend - Award Types: xS = Standard/Low Award, xM = Medium Award, xA = Additional/High Award, xX = Award Level Unknown.
Note: When award level is reported as Unknown (CX/FX), double-click the segment or activate the [Info] Mode and cross-reference the mileage level required (SM) with the SkyMiles Award Charts (http://www.Delta.com/skymiles/use_mi...eage/index.jsp) to determine the actual award type.

So when I search FRA-DCA on DL awards, I get a CX+/YA+
I now know means I get a 70k Biz, that is probably a 50k FRA-NYC in C and a 20k NYC-DCA in Y.
Only DL would charge you more to go in Y after paying for C.

DL 107 FRA 11:40 JFK 14:40 767 0 Dur: 09:00 | SM: 70K/62.5K
-> DL/9E 4143 JFK 18:15 DCA 20:20 0 Dur: 02:05

I've ticketed a business class award to the SEZ, which I am happy with, but it could be improved slightly on the transatlantic segments if availability ever opens up. I'm currently flying IAH-AMS-CDG-SEZ, but I'd prefer to fly SAT-xxx-CDG, SAT-xxx-AMS, or IAH-CDG nonstop (AF metal) to start my trip. When using KVS, can I limit the results such that I am only shown itineraries for which CS (low level business class) inventory is available? If so, how?

You sure can -- via the [Filter] Tab:

http://www.KVSTool.com/Images/Screenshot_Filter.gif

However, keep in mind that AF Award Availability should be checked via the [Sabre: FS] Method, as per the table at http://Help.KVSTool.com/#Classes

How do I filter my search so that it only displays results if CS inventory is available? Put "CS" or CS+" in the "Availability required in class(es) box"? Do something else?

In my case, I'm really only concerned sitting in business on the long-haul, transatlantic segment. If I add a filter, will I inadvertently mask itineraries where there's available business class inventory (CS+) across the pond, but all that's available on the domestic connecting DL flight is in economy?

Filter for "CS CX" and that should list both (though you'll get some oddballs in there) and have the Info button on. That should help.

You just enter the booking class, in this case "CS".

You can either search for the long-haul segment separately (which is always a good idea), or enter "CS" in the [Display Only The Following Class(es)] field instead -- it will still show "CS-" flights, but will eliminate all other classes you are not interested in.
