Upgrade?

I am flying out tomorrow. I am a PL Medallion. There are 4 available seats for 1st glass, yet I haven't received an upgrade confirmation. Is this the new normal for domestic legs?

They release upgrades at their whim. My flight tomorrow has 10 seats open up front, and I have yet to be upgraded.

Thanks. I was just wondering, as I figured I would have heard by now. I usually fly INTL, and when I have a domestic leg (i.e. DTW-JFK) I have always heard by now.

Does a tool like Expert Flyer or Seat Counter show 4 available seats in F? Or are there just 4 unclaimed seats on the seat map?

If the former, you have a good chance of being upgraded at the gate. If the latter, there may well be fewer that 4 available F seats.

Four unclaimed seats on the map. Didn't even think about it. Thanks.

They'll tell you that as a PM, you "outrank" all but DM. I'm not sure I believe it. I flew DTW -- SLC on a A319 last month. No upgrade. Chatting with a lady i the SLC SC, on the same flight, she said she's DM, and didn't get upgraded.

I think there are still issues between DL/NW metal and upgrades. They'll never admit it, but mid week Jan? 16 purchased F seats or PM higher than a Q fare? Sorry......I'd like to see the reality before I believe it..

Hub to Hub? How hard is that to believe?

And no one is a DM yet, everyone is still floating in the pool of PM until March 1.

As the saying goes, if you want to guarantee f/c, pay for it. Thats what I do, and usually coach prices arent that far behind. :)

Where were you in the UG list? There's also (in no particular order) -

any PM+DR on a Q fare
any PM on Y/B/M/H fares
time of booking/UG request
any SM/GM on a Y fare

Yup. Sixty-four posts in this thread beating the 'I see F seats unassigned but didn't get my upgrade yet'-horse didn't leave a sufficient impression.

Let's not forget the EP's, and government workers flying on reduced fare, but still booked in "Y". And, the above is incorrect:

EP on Y
PM on Y
GM on Y
SM on Y

then the shift to the rest of the fare basis's

This topic has had lot's of coverage in many threads.

Was giving every single empty seat for upgrades a common practice on NW? That would be a horrible revenue management model for any airline. Last time travel plans happen frequently, especially among top executives who buy full F fares.

No.

Unfortunately by posting on FT you have allerted DL to the fact that you haven't been upgraded. By doing so, they will ensure that you never receive another upgrade.
