What is the minimum fare class to be eligible for a first class upgrade for SM?

Domestically there is no fare class minimum....any paid Econ class. Internationally it is M/Y/B only.

Status not needed for miles or SWU upgrades on international flights, it is based on fare alone.

BTW, how does DL deal with flights to Canada and Mexico?

Thanks for the welcome, I have been reading on here for about a month. I get many of my miles from my Delta AmEx Platinum, and usually fly about 20k miles per year. So my upgrade options are not great with SM status.

Last I knew they were treated as Domestic relative upgrades. That may have changed recently but as of 8 months ago (I got an EUA to first on a MEX trip) they were.

As documented here:

The thread OP should note the Hawaii exceptions.

If you're talking about using your miles to upgrade, rather than automatic upgrades based on status, there is a minimum fare class for domestic flights--it needs to be K or higher.
