More bad IT at DL

OK, so I bought a ticket on DL as a GM. Two weeks later I"m PM. DL DOES NOT upgrade my reservation. I didn't do it myself manually. Now DL can neither change my reservation or upgrade me as PM. What is that about?

Why can't the manually process an upgrade?

they can't take out your ff# and put it back in?

Are you traveling today? And what is your routing? I flew ATL-LAX yesterday, and as a soon to be DM, I wasn't upgraded until at the gate (one of the few thanks to the BCS championship).

This has been around for a while. Call DL and have them remove and re-add your SM number. Make sure that upgrades are requested again.

Neither NW's or DL's systems ever handled this automatically. Most other airlines and hotels have similar problems.

DL has many, many IT problems and is probably among the worst of all airlines, but this problem isn't really a good indicator of that.

I did call DL. As I had started travel, they couldn't remove and replace my FF#. Nor could the manually process an upgrade. This is really quite sad -- the agent could see AND TELL ME the date my GM status became PM. Yet, despite the seat availability, could not get the upgrade via DL. She ultimately did it via NW site.

There really is no excuse for this. I can (barely) see not allowing a change to FF#, so that you're not subing programs. But that the agent themselves can't do the upgrade you're entitled to by program norms? There is no excuse for that.

What's new with the pathetic Delta IT? Try booking a flight to Manila from a non-hub city. No such pair exist. Really ... Orbitz, travelocity and all them other engines (cfares, vyama, etc) show flights on Delta and NW. Are they really trying to bankrupt the airline for good?

I'm on the phone with DL now trying to deal with a similar problem where it says not eligible, but I am. Flights were booked on NWA.com because the same flights were $150 cheaper. None of my reservations are correct, nor will they let me select seats. Even when I have selected seats, my seats eventually get changed. Starting to get angry... I've been on hold 20 minutes and we're only working on the first reservation.

They should clean house and start over.

Please make sure you send an email complaint to DL. It isn't enough that the res agent fixes the problem (though that should be noted in justice to the person on the phone if they do their job). DL really needs to hear that their IT is totally unacceptable.

DL has great people dealing with customers (as a rule) but absolutely TERRIBLE IT issues.

I booked a reservation last year as a general member but subsequantly became Silver Medallion. After I checked my reservation, it still showed me as a general member.

Therefore, I reopened the reservation online and clicked "Change Flights". Doing so gave me an option to change my FF number. I merely reentered my number and it now shows me as SM allowing me exit row seats and showing upgrade status as "requested". Maybe it will work for you?

The nightmare of Deltamatic will be on display starting around January 31st. They are trying to get us all trained in time but I have a feeling its not going to be to very fun from a pax perspective, while us legacy NW are trying to figure out how to get things done at the ticket counter and the gate. It really is unfortunate they are taking the efficiencies of AOP/PARS and getting rid of it. :(

They don't need to. They have a perfectly well functioning system that they could consolidate to: PARS and nwa.com.

As for forcing a FF number change, you can do it yourself on either site. Just switch to a FF number in another program, get out of the reservation, get back in and switch it back.

That only works if you have not started travel. For example, if you had gone on your 1st leg of the trip, and that leg made you silver, you CANNOT and DL res. agents CANNOT delete/re-enter your FF#. The result is that you don't get the benefits (read upgrades) that you should get. Why? Because DL's reservation system is not adequate to do its job.

Indeed. I just got two 006 tickets converted to 012's, as in 006'es apparently PU503 upgrades are not done until day of flight at the airport (which I know is very time consuming and delays the whole check-in line, plus prevents one from using online check-in). I sure am glad I got it done now, as it sounds like as of February it's 006 only.

It's really beyound me why Delta is so oblivious to both it's passangers and staff needs - and facts - and (almost) always has to chose the worst of two options, ultimately shooting itself in the foot and creating unhappy passengers and staff and worseing it's own reputation in the process. :(

You do not think Delta is aware how bad their IT systems are? I can not believe they are that out of touch.
