Only US Airways ranks alongside DL in also charging for carry-on items from Canada to the US.

DL/NW went from charging $0 in September to/from Canada, to now charging $120 roundtrip for someone with a carry-on and checked bag. That's a big difference and smart travellers will pay $100 more to go AC or WS, save the fees, and get better inflight product in the process.
Please be advised DL no longer charges for a carry-on bag coming from Canada since it has to be checked.

Delta raised checked bag fees

I don't think anyone has posted this yet. The new fees will be $23/25 online/at airport for the first bag, $32/35 for the second.

It was posted last week. Very sneaky of DL since it was announced by just a subtle change on their website.

Enough for increasing the bags fees. Can we need to be drop the fees of 1st & 2nd bags. It should have to be reinstates to bring free checked bags back again. Just do it right thing to do for the passengers wants to get free of charges 1st & 2nd bags fees. The passengers will taking the advantage of those bags fees will be no longer existing.

Didn't DL lose customers last year.? Doesn't seem to make a lot of sense to raise your prices in the face of losing customers.

Of course, given the financial performance of legacy airlines over the past few years, I doubt there is anything they can do to stop the red ink until one or two carriers go out of business. Then baggage fees won't matter because they will be able to raise airfares as they like.

Looks like Continental is matching Delta on this one.

Given the current regulations for traveling from Canada, this is outrageous.

You would think that some airline would drop these bag charges and then market that to death and then see their share increase.

$120 per person in bag fees is highway robbery.

Comparable FedEx rates would require you to ship your bag days (or weeks) in advance.

Sadly, the late adaptors (AS) and abstainers (WN) saw no return on this strategy. While WN is certainly creating goodwill, it is nearly impossible to argue that its increase in market share is not a result of its network and capacity strategy. Another airline that has the ability/desire to a flood a market with frequent, mainline flights would probably see similar results. At the end of the day, WN is only saved from having to add bag fees by its limited distribution. For every other airline held captive by price transparency, the hundreds of millions of dollars are too hard to ignore. Sadly, the industry will not support sustainable pricing and consumers have to be subjected to this kind of crap.

Yes, it would be agree with you. DL will have to be drop the bags fees immediately. We don't want to get too expensive for 1st & 2nd bags fees. Because the customers doesn't like that. It should have to bring free of charges 1st & 2nd bags fees back. It is not have any justifiable against DL want to get raised the fees. It should have to be reductions the fees only $5 online check-in & $10 fees only at airport check-in. This is not right thing to do for DL. Obviously, DL must to have be reductions the fees due to high cost of the fuel.

Will the increased revenue incentive lead to more of a pushback in trying to check a back through to a second PNR destination?

Not necessarily so. DL has baggage fees that do result in DL charging more for transporting some bags than it would cost to send them by FedEx internationally.
