Help me understand: Was FIRST class now ECON
My dad bought three econ tickets on Delta. JFK SLC HNL for Sunday
Used miles from PLT AMEX to upgrade Sunday flight out of JFK is canceled. On hold 1.5 hours. Talked with CSR changed to Monday flight. "That flight has one first class seat available and 2 exit row seats available," I was told. Great - 94 year old grandmother can still be in first. 65 yr old parents in exit row - okay not bad considering the snow and holiday. Get email confirmation: Booking class M Seat ** Cabin COACH! WHAT????? Call back but hold time is only 45 minutes I ask CRS, "What happened to one first class and two exit row seats?" CRS, "There is a first class seat available but I can not assign it to you because you used miles for the upgrade. I can put you on the wait list." WHAT??? I'm giving myself a migraine thinking of my grandmother sitting in 44F for 15 hours. How do I make sure my grandmother is back to sitting upfront like to original flight? PBQ |
pay for the seat.
BTW make sure they redeposit your miles if you don't get them back. |

QUOTE] Trust me, I asked that question. CSR told me there was nothing I could do other than be on the waitlist. |

1105 SLC HNL on 12/21 Can someone tell me if first class is booked? 1105 - ALL 0s Used Seacounter.com Seems like there are seats from LAX. Nothing on JFK-LAX but there are seats JFK-SLC-LAX. The flight would get them in at 9:45 PM (6 hours later) but there seems to be availability. Before you talk to the agent again, you should be armed with options for the agent. This will help both you and the agent sift through the multiple flight options. The more information you come into the call, the better. Edit: Flights now 0ed out |

Per KVS, here are the options out of JFK to HNL on the date requested.
[KVS Availability Tool 5.1.7/Diamond - WSpan: Availability/ITN/US-WOT] Code:
JFK New York John F Kennedy Int'l NY US [KJFK] |
Expertflyer says zero seats available on both legs

Delta.com is still selling seats. I searched 3 First Class seats for Monday, 21 December 2009.
JFK-MSP-HNL (DL 2943 & 2693) JFK-MSP-LAX-HNL (2943, 2418, 1501) JFK-MSP-HNL (2943 & 2470) JFK-MSP-HNL (2591 & 2693) Unless DL's policies have changed, domestic F isn't oversold so there should be seats available. BTW, I love the ICN & NRT options. |
As it stands right now, there are 12 F seats ex-JFK domestic to HNL.
DL 2591 - 3 (connects in MSP) DL 2943 - 8 (connects in MSP) DL 1843 - 1 (connects in SLC) |
During IROPS unless you paid for a FC ticket using $$$ and a real F fare code (not an A or X-UP) all other methods of having been in F for your original flight just don't matter.
I am living this right now, writing from 29,000' having been delayed and subsequently missing my ATL connection. Me on a K fare using a PMU for an F seat, my son on an award F ticket. Me PM, son GM. We are on the standby list, #9 and #10, of 10 on the list, for Y seats with 2 seats in F available for purchase on the first flight out of ATL tomorrow. No you may not be placed on the UG list since you are standby for Y. UG will go down to a gate lottery for which we are not eligible to play. Unless you buy a real F ticket, DL views all other methods of getting into F as "cheating" and during IROPS you go to the back of the bus. |
